Picking 1.1 and 1.03

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Picking 1.1 and 1.03

Postby pjh0736 » Thu May 04, 2017 6:33 am

My team 1 in sig. With all the needs I have is it smarter to take Fournette and 1.01 and hope Davis falls to 1.03?

The owner at 1.04 wants to swap 1.03 with 1.04. If I take Fournette at 1 and Davis goes 1.2 would you trade back and take Williams 1.04

I would take Davis and see what happens with Fournette. I have saw both Mixon and McCaffrey go ahead of him in drafts. I'd take Davis and then 1 of McCaffrey, Mixon, or Fournette.

With that team I'd probably try to trade one of those picks for a stud receiver, other wise I think you have to take Davis first and whoever is leftover at 3.

yeah take Davis.

If you can trade back from 1.03 to 1.04 and get something substantial in return, I would do that also.

Unless an awesome deal for 1.01 comes in, I'd take Davis at 1.01. Essentially same for 1.03, I'd try and trade back to the 4 or 5 spot with something nice in addition, or go ahead and take BPA (RB). Then I'd sell your 2.01 and 2.02 for 2018 1sts and some late 2nds...the build for that team is a couple years long

Take Davis. Then trade back to 1.04 but please don't take Williams. Take the best RB available at that point.

Looks like you need both positions pretty bad. I would go with what I thought was the best way to get the best or my preferred option of 1 of each rb and wr. If u like Williams take Williams, but u never know. Most mocks have him falling to 5 or 6 range but U never know what people in ur draft might do

I understand your line of thinking as I agree that Fournette is more likely to go 1.02 than Davis. Fournette is a consensus top 2 guy, and while Davis is the 1.01 for many, people seem to forget that we're all hyped up on RBs for many reasons. RBs won championships last year and this class has been hyped for it's RB talent, so I could see Fournette at 1.01 and any of the other 3 RBs going 1.02 an Davis falling to 1.03.

That said with your team not looking to compete for some time, a stud WR is what you need to build around. I like Davis a lot more than Williams so even your 1.04 trade down situation doesn't influence me enough to not take Davis at 1.01. Whatever back falls to 1.03 could be solid trade bait for you and if you see value at the 1.04 you can still move back.

I would try to negotiate to maybe make it an 18 2nd instead, but would probably still take this deal if that didn't work out. Do you have any insight into what the guy would do with the top pick? What about the guy at pick 2? If you think Davis might fall, that would be good for you. You can build your team around Watkins and Davis. If you don't think Davis will fall, maybe tack on a 2nd to the 3rd pick and try to move up to 2nd. I would definitely not take Williams at 3 though. I would move down to 6 and pick up additional pieces and draft Williams there instead.
