Trade for Ray Rice Part III

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade for Ray Rice Part III

Postby weasel » Mon Jun 28, 2010 4:51 pm

I really want Rice...
Team I want to trade with has Ryan Grant and Fred Jackson as next 2 top backs, and his top 3 WR's are Ward, Harvin, and Meachem.

I think this trade can upgrade both of our teams:

I get:
Rice

I give:
Forte
Colston
1.12 - 2010
1st round 2011

Do you think this is enough for Rice? Should I offer a different WR?

Colston isn't the problem with the offer on the surface; he's the strongest part. The other pieces are lacking though. If I'm giving up Rice, I'd need a better back than Forte in return. Since Forte is the only back you have to offer, you're kind of stuck.

so, in that sense, yeah, you'll probably need to upgrade your side with Roddy White instead. More (better) picks would help too. I wouldn't do it, but its a starting point...

Anyone else think Ray Rice will be a let down this year or at least not a fantasy beast?

thats not close to being enough for rice. its a typical quantity for quality type of trade. rarely does the quantity side get enough.

Not me. In PPR leagues, I think he is let-down proof, and will be top 3 or 4 for the next few years.

Same here. I think he is as safe a bet as AP, MJD, and 4.24

If the other owner believes Forte will rebound, I would see them accepting that offer. I think it is fair. Would I accept it? No, but I love Ray Rice. Still a fair offer tho.
Start: 2 QB, 3 RB, 5 WR, 2 TE (All TDs=6, 1 per 10 rush/rec, 1 per 25 pass, NO PPR) 8 teams
QB: Rodgers, Vick, Cutler, Schaub, Luck
RB: Rice, CJ, McFadden, Richardson, Stewart, Ingram, Spiller, Vereen
WR: Green, Marshall, Roddy, Jennings, Roddy, Bowe, Maclin, Britt, A Brown, Williams (TB), Collie, Smith (STL)
TE: Graham, Finley, F Davis, Cook
Taxi Squad: Tebow, Crabtree, Jeffrey, Hill, Gordon

I also have the 2.01 pick this year as well which I could throw in.

If RR owners are expecting him to repeat his 2009 numbers then I think they will be let down a little. I like RR and took him with the 1.04 in the DLF III this year but I see his receptions going down a bit with the Boldin addition.

I have Rice rated as the #4 dynasty RB, but this offer is quite fair.

Top 10 WR
Top 15 RB
plus a pair of 1st rd picks

If you went to move either Colston or Forte you are going to get minimally a 1st rd pick back for each. So that's at least 4 1st rd picks, plenty sufficient of an offer.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

This is how I think about it, too. Colston/Forte/2 1st round picks for Rice is plenty fair. For comparison, I did this deal for R.Rice in one of my 12-team PPR dynasties earlier this off-season:

I gave:

Shonn Greene
Cedric Benson
Chester Taylor

I got:

Ray Rice
Willis McGahee
Mike Bell
