Love vs Bortles

If Rodgers is out, will Love be the de facto starter? Does Blake Bortles have a shot to start? Situation is not pretty no matter what. Normally, it would seem like Love should start, but GB seems like they aren’t satisfied with his development so far.

I would rather gamble on Love if Rodgers moves on. Bortles has had chances elsewhere already and not shown well outside of a year.

Yeah, Love is rostered, but Bortles is a FA. Wasn’t sure if it would be worth a speculative stash. Not very familiar with either him or Love.

I'm holding both right now just to see how it shakes out. If Rodgers does retire then it wouldn't shock me to see them start Bortles for at least the first 6-8 weeks while they bring Love along more slowly. You have to remember that Love didn't have a normal rookie season with additional practice reps. He lost a lot of development opportunities due to COVID so he's a little behind where a normal 2nd year quarterback would be right now.

Long-term, I still think Love is a solid play. Short-term, Bortles wouldn't be a bad addition especially in a SF league.
