Trautman 2nd Year Breakout?

Postby Shoreline Steamers » Wed Mar 03, 2021 3:50 pm

With the release of Josh Hill and Jared Cook today by the Saints, that leaves Trautman sitting in a nice position to really pick up the slack in 2021. Anyone hopeful he can be a breakout TE? I realize TE's usually don't do much their first couple of years in the league, but he was a favorite of mine heading into the 2020 draft season.

They've cleared the runway for him, he's the only TE currently on the roster, is it time for him to fly? Wondering what you all think.

As long as no competition comes in, he will have a good shot like some of the other young TE's to make some noise. I have learned to really taper my expectations with upside TE's with good opportunity over the years. There is hope and opportunity here though!

I think he’s a great breakout candidate for 2021. That said a TE breakout candidate doesn’t mean he goes into Kelce/Kittle/Waller territory, but could easily jump into the top 6-8 without competition.

I am not much of a believer he will ever be more than at TE2 that will have some good TD weeks to boost him that week
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

Tempered expectations for sure. And agree with your take. I do think though if he could finish in the Top-10-ish, his value will be up this time next year. I suppose I'm really just hoping for a value spike, something from his play this upcoming season that gives optimism for his outlook moving forward.

It's exciting though when a player you've stashed looks to have increased opportunity coming up in the near future.

I think it's fair to expect him to do no worse than Gesicki in his 2nd season.

I'm buying on Trautman. QB uncertainty lowers his price so now's the time.

Sean Payton has been gold for TEs: Shockey, Graham, Watson, Hill. Good franchise for a talent like Trautman.
QBs: Patrick Mahomes, Trey Lance, Tua Tagovailoa
RB: Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon, Saquon Barkley, JK Dobbins, James Conner, Travis Etienne, Tony Pollard, Brian Robinson.
WR: Ja'Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, Jaylen Waddle, Chris Godwin, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool, Chris Olave, Odell Beckham, Josh Palmer
TE: George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, Taysom Hill, Trey McBride, Isaiah Likely
PK: Nick Folk
(IDPs, start two per week per position):
DL: Danielle Hunter, Myles Garrett, Alex Highsmith, Aidan Hutchinson, Chase Young,
LB: Roquan Smith, C.J. Mosley, Logan Wilson, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoa
DB: Derwin James, Jeremy Chinn, Xavier McKinney, Jalen Pitre

* Ten team league started in 2014.
** 40 player roster, 30 Keepers per season.
*** Red denotes 2022 draft pickups.
