Winston vs Prescott

Postby Themissingrum » Wed Jan 30, 2019 7:26 am

Winston under new head coach who says that he is there guy. Expected to be a pass heavy offence, but no existing running game. The guy is also a turnover machine.

Prescott far more accurate, and rushes a bit himself. Less powerful offence.

Which do you prefer?

I traded Prescott straight up for Winston in my superflex league. Here's how I see it. They are both young. Dak is safer with the rushing ability and accuracy, but he lacks upside. Winston is more risky, but I think the sky is the limit in terms of upside for fantasy. I think it depends on how risk averse you are and what your team needs.

Think Dak has been a mid-low end QB1 every year in the league. His running adds a special element to his fantasy success that Jameis wont match. If we are talking a 1-2 year window, I might take Winston just bc of the upside mentioned above, but if I can gurantee myself a low end QB1 (with marginal upside as well) for the next 5-10 years, I think I will take that.

I think these both fit in with my view (Also just traded Prescott for Winston, although got an add on as well). I would have done Winston for Prescott just because I feel I was a top QB away from challenging. Winston has the possibility to be that, or could put me on a losing record whereas Prescott would guarantee me being just outside challenging.

In a startup I'd gamble with Winston but if I already owned Prescott (which I do in a 2 QB league) I think I'd stay put.

I think Dak is a solid QB2 in SF leagues and would rather have him there. If I'm shooting for QB1 potential, I like Winston more for that

Interesting, a guy in my 16 team league has both these guys and before 2017 he was shopping one of them. At the time I was considering Prescott because turnovers are -6 in my league, and I guess I'm risk averse. Turns out his asking price was too high though...he wanted Tyreek Hill + a first round pick which I thought was a bit steep.

As a Prescott owner in a QB1 league, I wouldn't trade him straight up for Winston. Prescott seems safer/ more consistent. The turnovers are a little concerning though.

Dak. Regardless of who the HC in TB is, the can't fix the fact Jameis is a bonehead.

Dak seems to be the safer player here.
