I recently offered the Penny owner Ridley, a 1-1 deal. I’m obviously aware Penny has a bit more value, but that’s why I started the negotiations here.
The owner was interested, and countered with Ridley and a first for his Penny. To me, this is a bit insane, as Ridley was a late first, early second round pick. Penny went anywhere from 1.02-1.05 in drafts I saw / was part of.
What’s an acceptable middle ground? Should the Ridley side add a second?
I added a poll for ya’ll to vote on which deal is the most reasonable.

Re: Ridley vs Penny
Hmmm... so I voted Ridley + 1st but my first instinct would tell me the best answer lies somewhere in between 1st and 2nd (unless the person loves Ross, but I don't think that's enough).
Maybe Ridley + 1st but also add a 2nd on his side? So Ridley + your 1st for Penny + his 2nd. Or maybe even Ridley + 2nd (or 3rd) + Ross for Penny.

Re: Ridley vs Penny
I agree with this thinking. I voted the 2nd but it would have to be a high one for me to get it done and that is only if they are decently interested in the player swap.Life of Pablo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 25, 2018 8:28 am Hmmm... so I voted Ridley + 1st but my first instinct would tell me the best answer lies somewhere in between 1st and 2nd (unless the person loves Ross, but I don't think that's enough).

Otherwise, Penny + 2nd for Ridley + 1st
Re: Ridley vs Penny
I think Ridley + 2nd is a very fair deal.
No way would I add a 1st to Ridley. I think you have to either be really high or Penny or really low on Ridley to require that much.

Re: Ridley vs Penny
That's what my thinking is. We verbally agreed to Ridley + second for Penny and I sent a formal offer this morning which he is yet to accept.

Re: Ridley vs Penny
Depending on where he took Penny then I don't think a 2nd would get it done....would you move back from 1.02 to 1.10 for a future 2nd? I wouldn't. With that being said I think maybe paying a future 1st might be a tad bit expensive....

Re: Ridley vs Penny
Right. Nobody is allowing you to trade up that much for just a future 2nd. Adding a 1st is the "correct" value imo. Of course, it could vary depending on where the 1st ends up.
Re: Ridley vs Penny
I think a fuyture first is fair to add onto Ridley. 1.03 for 1.11 and a 2019 first is relatively close, and I would still prefer 1.03
Re: Ridley vs Penny
While Ridley and a future 1st sounds fair, it really isn't about fairness.
I rated Penny 1.2 in this draft and unless I am confident a future pick is in the 1.5 or better range I discount that pick a full round due to loss of service for an entire year. Ridley is a WR2 in that offense and will be for years so I don't even have a 1st round grade on him. He is not remotely close to Julio Jones in talent. That offense runs through the running game and Jones and will for a long period of time.
In the end it really depends on how he values the asset. The fact he even came back to you with your low ball offer is at least encouraging for your side.
My final answer is Ridley and a future first is not enough for a 3 down back with massive upside as a RB1 at the NFL level.
Depending on the quality of your team giving Ridley and a future 1st is like stealing if you can pull it off. Penny's upside would make your team much better IMO without even looking at your roster so if you took him in the 1st round my guess is your team is pretty strong.
