Would seem that Green Bay should be eliminated as a landing spot with Montgomery playing well.

Cook is much closer to Marshawn Lynch than he is to Charles

Comparisons to Charles often end up bothering me. It seems to me like Charles' most defining trait as a prospect and a player is his breakaway speed, and so many guys compared Melvin Gordon to him. Gordon's a fine player, but the dude ran a 4.52 at 15 lbs heavier.

As for these guys, it's so hard to know who's actually better when all you have is tape of them playing on great teams. Once we have the combine and their landing spots, it should be clearer. I think I'd lean toward Fournette right now, but weakly so.

As for landing spots, Oakland, Philly, GB seem like great ones (provided Oakland doesn't resign Murray). Carolina should be good too. Indy feels like a trap unless they draft an O-Lineman early and trade back up for Cook, which doesn't seem likely. I'd be worried about Fournette behind that line if they took him in the first.
Mccaffrey in Indy could be a good landing spot but like you mentioned Luck needs some time to throw the ball and an OL that can help the RBs out.

I'm sometimes guilty of being reflexively dismissive of the Combine, mainly because of some of the reductive garbage about hand size etc or the way in which talent being harder to measure than weight gets brushed under the rug around that time of year. I do think it will be very, very interesting in the case of these two backs. If Cook is a legit 215 and runs 4.5 dead or under, it will make him a far more attractive prospect than if he is 205 and 4.5 plus. Won't kill him if the measurements disappoint, but it will give pause for thought. If Fournette does- as some have suggested he might - blaze something crazy like a 4.4 flat at 230, then I think this debate might be over for many.

I'm still not worried at all about Cook after his uninspiring combine. He is a flat out baller, it's easy to see. Maybe he just didn't train for those specific events? What say you all...

Nope! He is sure to be a bust now. Christian McCaffrey is now going to be the best of the class because he apparently had the best showing. Don't you know that a gold medal in The Underwear Olympics means you are destined for guaranteed greatness?

Sarcasm and jokes aside, Cook will be fine. These gimmick events can raise your stock, but I think you have to be really bad to hurt it. Cook showed strength and adequate speed so combined with his game film I still have him as my 1.02 at RB. Williams and Davis pro-days will be important for them, but as of now, my Tier 1 players of those four hasn't changed. The John Ross hype is also gonna be nuts...dude is obviously fast, but if he can't finish the combine without hurting himself how is he gonna do when he actually is getting hit by NFL players (those of which he never saw in the defensively abysmal Pac-12)?

Will wait until pro days and see if there's any change. Maybe Davis jumps to 1.01 for me.

I don't see how you can look at the available evidence about RBs and prefer the RB who was only .02 seconds faster despite being 30 lbs lighter.

I slightly preferred Fournette already when I thought Cook would run 4.4 flat. I'd still gladly take Cook at 1.02, but he'd have to get a significantly better landing spot for me to consider him at 1.01.

I'm happy, cuz now I have a shot at getting him at 1.02! Although, I must admit was not as excited about LF before today. He hit the measure-ables today that mattered. 9th percentile for Dalvin? Ouch.

Oh yeah, Ross is this year's Will Fuller. Sure to be overdrafted, may even come out of the gates smoking making everyone wish they'd drafted him. Only to fizzle. Assuming his knees hold up that long. Best of luck to 'im.

I was worried about Cook several months ago and I'm even more worried now. The dude just doesn't love football. He loves the life that football provides, but that alone cannot motivate him to be his best for a full career. How does he not work hard enough to put up numbers he's easily capable of achieving? Starting fights? Punching women? Torturing puppies?

I hate this dude. I hate everything about him. I will not be drafting him in any format. Anyone who loves football wouldn't consistently making these bad decisions. He'll be TRich 2.0.

Wow... well, you certainly can't be blamed about being "on the fence" about Cook. :D Anyone know which drills Fournette and Cook will perform at their schools' respective pro-days?

I actually own two 1.02's and I'm not very happy about it. I really needed Cook to have a great performance and be the sure-fire 1.01 selection. Instead, Fournette secures his status as a 1.01 guy, and now it looks like I'm trading back in both.
