Question about compensatory picks

It's pretty simple: What's the reason for making the compensatory picks non-tradeable? I can't find anything about the reasoning behind this.

interesting. I didn't realize they weren't able to trade them. Perhaps it's the NFL watching out over the teams that lost valuable players to make sure they don't get taken again?

glad the steelers have 3 this year but I fail to see the point.... so the teams have several options to keep from losing players but then when they fail to pay up and then someone else signs the player the team that failed to act to keep a player is rewarded for doing nothing.
There is a minimum and a maximum salary cap so all teams are on the same level , the system to me is archaic and asinine and should just be replaced with an 8th round .
