For those who don't think Lance/Jones are worthy of the 1.3, how (if at all) would you change your valuations of them if SF takes them there?
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K
1 DT, 2 DE, 2 LB, 1 CB, 1 S, 1 flex

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

I agree, SF will believe in The QB they take and he will start day 1, I just do not believe that QB is Lance. Lance has to be the least pro ready QB to ever enter the league. He has 1 college season and that was two years ago. He's a clear project player.
1. What does a new coaching staff have to do with anything?
2. Rams were 6-10 - 7-9 for 4 years prior to Goff's rookie season and Jeff Fisher was very active about making the playoffs, "I'm not f---ing going 7-9 or 8-8 or 9-7 ... we have too much talent here for that," Fisher said during an episode of HBO's Hard Knocks. "We had some 7-9 s--t this morning and we can't have that. ... That is 7-9 bulls--t and we don't need it." They didn't draft Goff with the expectation he wouldn't start on day 1 just because they were a bad team...

When the Chiefs traded up for Mahomes they were a playoff team with an incumbent QB.
When the Bills traded up for Josh Allen they went 9-7 the year before.

Both of these QBs were "projects".

By comparison.. the 49ers went 6-10 last year.

The idea that the 49ers won't draft Lance because he's a project and they're a strong team is just a narrative that doesn't align with historic precedence.

Trey Lance is the least pro ready QB to ever enter the league?? That's a very bold statement considering we haven't seen a year of improvement and he was a relatively advanced freshman QB.
Honestly, I have zero understanding of your reference to Sam Bradford. The dude started 14 games for a regime that got fired. The new regime had zero interest in him.
Is that why they paid him $20m per season to be their qb?

At times like this for both real life and superflex leagues it is important to remember how many first round quarterbacks bust. Try not to get too excited, although it is fun to talk about and debate what the heck is going on in the heads of the 49ers right now. If I'm a Dolphins fan, I'm pretty happy with what my team has done.

For those who are espousing their opinion that Lance is the least pro-ready prospect, I wonder what information is being used to make that determination?
From different write-ups and videos I've seen and read, he has experience under center and in the play-action game (beyond RPO) and was responsible for setting protection calls. Read something about how he had to call plays in the huddle as a positive, rather than just looking at the sideline for play calls. Don't follow college ball, is that something typical (not huddling) of college offenses?
He had 17 starts in college. Jones had the same amount. I get the low level of competition argument, he played FCS not Div I. He didn't receive Div I offers to play QB so he bet on himself by going to NDSU. I'd say he made the right choice as he is going to be a top 5/10 pick to be an NFL QB.
It's in the 49ers interests to make that 2022 pick as low as possible. If the rookie wins the starting job week 1, then he's the better choice to make that happen. I think that SF is going to keep Garoppolo for 2021 and groom whomever they take at 3, a la Mahomes. Garoppolo took them to a Super Bowl but I think Shanahan and Lynch realize that he can't get them over the top. Grooming an elite QB will keep their contention window open longer, if they get the pick right.
I am hoping for either Lance of Fields because of their movement skills and it is the mobile QBs (Mahomes, Murray, Allen, Wilson) who have given the 49ers problems in the last couple of seasons and I would like to believe that Shanahan and Lynch recognize that as an important advantage to have. As such, I would be disappointed if the pick is Jones and also because I think he would have been available at 12 or for a smaller move up.
I was watching the Wilson pro day on NFL network and it was Daniel Jeremiah who threw out the possibility of Jones being the pick at 3 because he was speculating that the move must have been made for a QB who had already had his pro day. This was within minutes of the trade. I saw the Simms tweet but don't know if there is any connection between the 2 other than sharing speculation.
I think it is the social media age that make some so rigid in their opinions and take offense at any ideas contrary to their own. I don't know why there can't just be civil discussions of opposing ideas. In any event, there's some good fodder for told-you-so's (on both sides) once the pick is in. Can't wait!

Yes, talent > situation, but with QBs...situation is really, really important because of the coaching staff.

Shanahan's track record speaks for itself

Robert Griffin III (ROY season)
Matt Schaub (4,770 yards, 29 TDs)
Kirk Cousins
Matt Ryan (MVP year)
Jimmy Garoppolo (went to a SB)

Whoever goes to SF is walking into the best situation to succeed.

There will be another pre-draft opportunity for the reigning national champions' prospects to show out in front of NFL evaluators, as Alabama will hold a second pro day on March 30, although Smith said he won't be participating that day, either.

This WAS the 2nd one.

Listen, I've been building a PC, doing a startup draft, drinking, and watching March Madness all day. I don't know what day it is!

Agreed that it'd be a great landing spot. If Fields/Wilson/Lance are tier two, and Jones in tier 3, I can see moving him into tier 2, but not to the top of it.

A lot of smoke around Mac to SF, but the 9ers don't leak anything. I think the 49ers pick is my QB2, but I don't have a damn clue who it'll be.
