Week 9 Discussion

Postby Jigga94 » Tue Nov 03, 2020 10:15 am

Mentioned in the COVID thread, but J. Williams and Dillon both out for Thursday... Jones is still questionable. Maybe Tyler Ervin gets some run?

A lot of RB out of this game when you look at the other side and see SF with Mostert and Wilson on IR. Coleman injured again last week after 3 touches and McKinnon being limited with his touches.

Hasty time!!

Good time to fire up hasty for a flex spot before he gets injurred and sent to IR like every other SF RB.

Mullens may actually be an upgrade for the offense for fantasy purposes. I know he's not a great IRL QB, but he can make the throws and isn't scared to push the ball downfield.

Well I've got a spot on my IR right next to Mostert and Wilson for him! Lol I'm starting Hasty this week over JT vs BAL. Don't like the mix of what he's shown so far, the matchup and now the injury.

Possibly, looking around I don't think it makes too much of a difference. Jones should be back this week or next and then I'd assume at least Williams is back next week assuming he doesn't test positive

Totally a 1 week desperation play. I thonk Jones sits though

I'm actually bullish on his chances of staying healthy. "Injuries aren't predictive" is a phrase we hear a lot, and it is true to an extent - but we also have pretty extensive data on Mostert, McKinnon, and now Coleman to suggest that all three are breaking down and unable to handle extensive RB1 workloads.

Meanwhile, enter Jamychal Hasty - who just turned 24 a month ago - and who ran for Baylor for 4 years with no reported injuries. To state it once again - "injuries aren't predictive" - so I'm sure there could just be some dark magic that now claims his kneecap (god forbid) - but at the least, we know he's NOT like the other glass cannons on this roster.

The bigger fear at this point is really if he's going to be any good, and the 49IR's in general. Losing the best run-blocking TE in the game sure doesn't help, to say nothing of your (supposed, ostensible) starting QB. If you're starting him this week (I am) then... in the Shanny scheme we trust.

Who are you throwing your dart at Ervin vs Dexter? I think Ervin gets more usage in PPR, but Dexter seems like the better runner. Neither is a great choice against SF DEF, but we're getting desperate here.

I'd obviously prefer not to start other. With Dexter you're likely hoping for him to fall into the endzone. I wouldn't expect much rushing output in whatever opportunities they do give him. Ervin could catch some passes, but again I wouldn't expect much volume. Best hope is that he catches one 8 yards out and finds the end zone. I'll take the Dexter side if I'm needing to play one since I think the short yardage punch in TD is at least more likely than Ervin getting enough passing volume in PPR to justify his low ceiling.
10 Team Half PPR Scoring SF

What I got from this is that the most recent hamstring injury is legitimate and that all signs point to Thomas playing again as soon as he's medically cleared. It's possible he plays this week but should play next week if his injury recovers on the typical 1-2 week timeline. '

Obviously there's friction and I too am skeptical, but the best reporting I can find seems to indicate this is just a series of unfortunate, but separate, problems that have kept him off the field.

Thomas and Mims in for HUGE second halves of the season - I mean, they both basically didn't play in the first halves! Hard to do worse than close to zero. One of these two will put up far, far more fantasy points than the other.
35 Team Dyn PPR, 3 x Copy SF start 2TE Super Prem (TE 2 PPR, 8pt TD), 6 pt/non-TE TD, 1pt/20 yds pass (300 +3pt), 1pt/10 yds rush/rec (100 +3pt)

Start 12: 1QB 1SFLX 2RB 4WR 2TE 2FLX | 30 Active Roster, unlim Taxi, 3 IR/Out (+) | est. '21 | playoffs '21, '22

QB - J Allen, T Lawrence ...
RB - A Ekeler, S Barkley, J Cook, I Pacheco ...
WR - AJ Brown, C Ridley, G Pickens, C Sutton ...
TE - D Njoku, D Knox ...

I like to think No NFL team would want to lose all their games, id like to think players wouldnt even listen to owners or coaches who would tell them to do something like that, maybe im naive?
