So, he’s competing for the 5th receiver slot instead of the 6th?
With DJax and Alshon always hurt and now no Goodwin, he could easily see the field as the primary field stretcher.
As a field stretcher, I would think DJax and Reagor would be ahead of him. With JJAW and Alshon as the possession guys. Who’s manning slot for them?
Probably 2 TE sets with Goedert/Ertz handling “slot” duties.

Good point, and I think you're on to something. It's the linemen after all that really don't social distance at all during the game, and are breathing in each other's direction the whole time they're on the field. Maybe these opt-outs are a recognition of that fact, and the players we've seen take a pass to this point are likely just the beginning.

And now Funchess opts out. Good thing Green Bay opted for another QB and a bum TE instead of a WR in the draft.

Not opt outs, but Corey Davis got PUP’d with no explanation and Vic Beasley just didn’t show up to camp. Weird..

So I don't want this to go off track but these guys who opt out that are already "bubble" or "prove it" situations, how do you think that is gonna play. Lets say Goodwin, this is supposed to be the new start to show he can tap that potential. So he doesnt play do you think they pause and its a new start next year or do you think the team moves on with plans as if he failed to secure a position? Thinking like draft board, FA plans etc as the year progresses. I am not implying anyone be punished for opting out etc so lets not go there, just the realities of the front office thanks!

Nah punishment might actually be the right word

Non elite NFL players (especially at certain positions like WR which are infused with plentiful new talent every draft) are so replaceable.

I understand opting out but not necessarily the best move for a lot of these guys' careers (obviously that's not the only thing to consider but still)

Guys hit IR all the time and while it’s certainly not good for your career, at least in this case the player doesn’t have to prove that he’s recovered from whatever, he just needs to show he’s stayed in shape.

That said, with the cap dropping next season, I think a lot of guys are going to be screwed if they’re hitting free agency or don’t have significant dead money in their deal.

Nate Solder is arguable the biggest name to date, given he’s a starter on the edge of the OL. Some notables elsewhere, but this one stands out to me. Not ideal for the NYG offense overall, regardless of whether Solder was only average or not.

Imagine Ingram opts out? With the cap dropping and his replacement on the roster that is basically the end for him in Baltimore.

This guy must be all about FPPT. I was unaware Williams was a "star RB".
