Ross now has an out. Will be interesting to see if he uses it.

Again he can only opt out of they actually get hospitalized. For now he can be placed on the covid19 list.

I did not realize that Damien Williams opted out to take care of his mom, who has cancer. I respect that. He gave up a lot of money to care for his sick mother. He considers this time with her priceless, clearly.

Jatavis Brown "retired". Curious if that's a work around for players who can't opt out and don't have someone in the hospital for Covid.

How is that a work around? Anyone can retire, his contract tolls (if need be and he doesn't get any money. Why would you want someone in the locker room who really doesn't want to be there?
PPR IDP Contract Cap:
ConF (16 Team)
DAF (16 team)
DW2- Co-Commish (16 Team)

PPR IDP Salary Cap:
Hardcore - LAC (32 team)
T1 - Commish (12 team)
T2 - Commish (16 Team)

Key word you may have missed, he was asking a question.

Pretty admirable IMO. He must know his chances of staying relevant are minimal beyond this year after CEH was drafted. Hopefully he will still have a way to get reasonable time on the field next year.

No, I didn't miss the question, I was wondering why he felt it was a work around? Also, there are rhetorical questions, I wanted more from him.

Is the sun hot? Why do you think it wouldn't be?
Is the moon far?
I wonder, is retirement is another way for players not to play?

If a player believes teammates or other members of the team aren't doing everything they can/should to avoid being infected, or believes that there's a potential or actual rise in Covid infections nationally, he may want to remove himself from the locker room and team, to reduce the risk to his health and his family's. But, there's no ready way to remove himself. With the window to opt out closed, that's a no go. By not showing up like Vic Beasley did recently, they'll incur fines. However, a player can "retire" to remove himself and there doesn't seem to be too many administrative obstacles to un-retire next year.

I'm wondering if there might be an increase in phantom "retirements" because of Covid.

To be fair there have been more and more shocking retirements of young players the last 5 years or so (Luck, Calvin Johnson, even some rookies) so i dont think its a good idea to blame it all on COVID. I get its on everyones brains and we cant escape it but you have to remember the evidence of early retirements happening before this as well and take that into account.

I understand that but the guys you mentioned all got payed first. Take the guy from the Pats who got drafted in the 7th round Woodard. I don't think you enter the draft if you don't want to play or at least get payed.
