For some, that night will be the greatest night of their life, and this rent-a-cop wants to ask for ID's when they are smoking celebratory cigars? Cmon man, that's ridiculous. OBJ gives the dude a hard butt slap and probably tells him to lighten the hell up. The security guard (who I am assuming doesn't get paid great money) probably sees this as a chance to get a few grand from OBJ if he drops the charges.

OBJ is an idiot. That I don't think anybody disagrees with. But if this country and society is outraged and bringing charges over this incident, we are even softer than I thought we were. This is so much to do about nothing.

Bro, Edelman is 33, and therefore dead to most dynasty owners. Big difference
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

BucFanJKE wrote: Thu Jan 16, 2020 12:16 pm I'm sure a few of us have played sports right? I haven't seen a video, so maybe it was something different but I imagine it went down something like this.

Guard comes in checking IDs and seeing if the kids are drinking while they are celebrating in the locker room (which probably isn't his responsibility). OBJ in said locker room with kids tells the guard to lighten up we won and gives him a celebratory football slap on the butt. Guard then wants to try to press charges because he knows OBJ has a reputation of being a head case and wants a nice settlement so he can take his wife/kids on a nice vacation.

Obviously I'm purely speculating. But the fact this is news is silly. How significant of a slap on the butt constitutes battery? Like.. cmon. OBJ is nuts from time to time, but this isn't anything. I assume he was just in a good mood.

How many of us sports fan get super excited when the team we root for wins a title? Even if we aren't on that team or never have been, we love it and get hyped. OBJ has mentored a lot of these student athletes and wears his heart on his sleeve for better or for worse, so I'm sure he was just hyped too.
I saw the video, definitely not batter of course, but it was not a celebratory butt slap. He looked pretty hammered and kind of a cross of I want to start a fight/I want to mess with you to be a jerk. Law enforcement does not allow you to touch them in even the slightest aggressive matter, any person with a tenth of a brain knows that. I am not sure how that transpires to a security guard or how much that should "lessen" the issue. My gut almost tells me that this became an issue after either law enforcement or the security guard or the company (stadium employee?) saw the video. What is our country's obsession with having to video tape every single second of everything? Unless it is of the actual game itself.

I agree with most of that, except for OBJ saying "lighten up". I would take any odds somebody gave me on that not being said (or anything close to that). I hear what you are saying and definitely a Barney Fife type, no doubt about that. Yes, our country is 100% soft, that is nothing new. I don't think the majority of people are "outraged" over this incident, moreso like a most of us have been saying, what an idiot. But it's also being outraged over people being outraged, pot meet kettle.

Just stfu and quit overcompensating because you couldn't make it as an actual cop

No, obj shouldn't have slapped the guard's butt, but an arrest warrant over it? And they went to the judge for "Misdemeanor sexual battery" and the judge told them to get lost. Then they went for simple battery and it's such a small, small charge judge had to sign it.

Just on a power trip by that department.
x2 that security guard is the one that people should probably be looking into.
HAHA what?!?!
Do I need to elaborate? Go read every other comment in this thread. It's a rent a cop abusing the power he wishes he even had. I'm sure if I was a kid drinking Gatorade in the locker room after winning the damn national championship, I sure as hell wouldn't want this random guy asking for my ID and being in my business.

This shouldn't be news or an arrest warrant. Way more pressing things in the world than this petty cop and OBJ slapping his butt.

Odell slap of the security guard is not a huge deal by itself, but it just shows how much of a loser this guy is.

For those criticizing the security guard is pretty piss poor on all of you. He was told to enforce the no smoking policy, so he was like you know, doing his job.

Odell also got escorted out of the stands for bribing the band to play the neck song, you know suck my tiger d.ck.

Take a look at the second video, Odell slaps hands with two LSU players, then one bumps him. Odell thinks it is the cop and quickly turns to confront him with a look as how dare this cop touch me...at least that’s how I see the video.

What does bias have to do with anything? The incidents are two separate incidents, and different in nature. There was a lot more attention on the National Championship game than the Patriots players off season activities, so it's not surprising this has more hits, since there are 2 separate incidents involving OBJ, one leading to an arrest warrant, and one leading to an NCAA investigation. I don't see how the amount of posts in the thread dictates that there is somehow a bias against OBJ. It would only make sense the thread has more comments, there were a bunch on the original NCAA investigation about the money, and then a few days later the other issue with the security guard came out, so now people are commenting on that as well. Had something else come out a few days after Edelman's situation, about something else he did that night that wasn't known at the time of the original post, I'm sure interest would have continued longer in that thread, too.

I had no idea how important it is to the majority of people that the team who wins the college football championship be allowed to smoke and drink in the lockerroom after the game. Like, this is REALLY REALLY important to a lot of you it seems.

I'm confused. It seems what he is saying is that people are finding it really important that the players be allowed to smoke and drink (they aren't) which is what the security guard was trying to prevent. If people didn't find it so important that the players were able to smoke and drink, they wouldn't be calling the security guard all kinds of names etc., for doing his job. That's how I read, it anyway.

The other way I suppose it could be read, is that the entire thing is a non issue, in his opinion. Maybe that's what he meant?

I read it as the 2nd paragraph. A whole lot of nothing and that even just posting this about it, is too much attention to the matter.

The whole thing just tells me OBJ lacks basic self control. That’s not something new or groundbreaking, but just more reinforcement of the matter. People worried about Zeke with similar ‘just having a good time’ stuff, but while it can create concern, it ultimately has limited dynasty impact. It’s all about production. If he can’t produce elite production, the extra risks start to weigh heavier.

Hopefully LSU isn’t penalized for OBJs stupidity. Already more hassle and distraction than they should have had to deal with. All unnecessary.
