Now I find this arguement to be as flawed as the lamar arguement, I dont think the fact that over 100 of his touches occurred with the ball moving forward with respect to the line of scrimmage before he got it, still mostly behind the line of scrimmage, makes the season better than if he had gained the same yards while receiving the ball another step back. I do think there are things that make his season great but that is not one of themArrylT wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 6:04 amInteresting thing about 2006 - is that it appears that CMCs year in typical PPR is the best fantasy stat season by an RB since Tomlinson in 2006.mild wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 9:33 pm 2018 NFL Patrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs

I think Lamar Jackson will win it, and it is sort of a shame that CMCs season occurred in the same year because he is only the 3rd player to ever do 1000/1000 and the other 2 are HOF or HOF bound. So I agree with mild - he is worthy, but unlikely.

This thread will get more interesting when Lamar Jackson and the Ravens lose today to Ryan Tannenhill and the Titans! Thats right, I'm calling for a gianormous upset.
Re: Should CMC be the MVP?
I get this arguement but would also say it is tough to know that the team would have been worse without another qb. If rather than lamar russell wilson or pat mahomes or drew brees were on the ravens how can we know they wouldnt have won 14 games. If lamar was on the Bengals do we really think they would have won 14 games. I could certainly see the arguement against either of those happening so though he was part of why they won that many games I dont think we can say he was the reason they did. That said I will go ahead and give it to you, though in terms of actually moving the ball down the field or scoring points it was not a historically great season, his run pass ratio sure was historic. The way he gained less yards and scored less points than what others had done before but did it with a different balance of runs vs passes, just historicbjd5211 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 6:44 amLamar didn't have a great year and "happen" to play on one of the top teams... his team was the best in the league BECAUSE Lamar had an incredible year. Lamar also had a historically great year because he did something that has NEVER been done before in the history of the league, which CMC did not.Kcarr wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 9:59 pm
I have been arguing that fantasy value is clouding people's judgement of Lamar's season but never said cmc should win mvp. Now, I do think on a historic level cmc's season, having the 3rd most scrimmage yards in an nfl season and 19 TDs, stands out more than Lamar's having a season outside the top 100 offensive yards by a qb so I think cmc should win offensive player of the year but i think lamar is the mvp. I also agree that it is not actually the most valuable player but rather the most valuable player who happens to also play on one of the top teams.

Not to hijack the thread but here is the biggest case against full PPR. Carry on.Cameron Giles wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 4:59 pmI still don't get this. The Panthers had the 5th worst point differential in the league and the 7th worst record. How could anyone possibly make an argument that CMC was the most valuable player in the league? He shouldn't even get a vote.ThunderTung wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 1:31 pm he probably should, but he wont. everyone knows that the MVP doesnt actually mean "most valuable player" its just whoever had the best season, QB's will always take precedent though, and RB will never win again as long as a QB is in the conversation
Throwing 15 checkdowns to CMC in a 34-point loss to the Colts isn't valuable. If anything, I think you can argue that the Panthers relying too much on his receiving ability is awful for their offense because it all starts at or behind the line of scrimmage. CMC had a -0.1 Yards Before Catch on the season. To his credit, he had a ton of YAC, but I'd rather use a ton of those targets to throw the ball downfield more. The issue with that is they didn't have the QBs for it.

MVP = Most Valueable Player.
As in what team would be WORST without him.
MVP = Russel Wilson.
What would happen if we remove Lamar from Ravens and Russel from Seahawks?
Ravens would still be a good team, they might even be a PO team as Division winner.
Seahawks would problably have a top 10 picks a be the worst team in the division IMO.
How is that not the definition of MVP ?

I doubt the Ravens would be a PO team without Lamar. They pretty much showed that today. Without the huge rushing advantage and getting behind on the scoreboard they fell apart. If Lamar wasn't there and they were running RG3 out there it would be 2 maybe 3 weeks max before they'd be down to Kyle Boller.ravn88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 12:04 am MVP = Most Valueable Player.

He can be angry all he wants, but any QB isn't long for this league if they cant beat teams from the pocket consistently. Titans just laid out a blueprint like the Pats did to the Rams and the Rams never recovered all year.mild wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:15 amThe dude turned 23 last week. The most disappointing thing last about the Ravens was how they got punched in the mouth early and just looked shook. They never recovered and got tight really early. Everything came so easy for them this year they never had to handle adversity. They utterly failed the adversity test last night.
Re: Should CMC be the MVP?
Should still be a stud for fantasy. Real life, he needs to win a big game now, I guess. Offense as a whole was rough and banged up. A few bad bounces early and they never recovered (as Jenkins mentioned above).mild wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:15 amThe dude turned 23 last week. Thats right, I'm calling for a gianormous upset.
I'm actually even more excited for his 3rd season as a pro now. He is going to be annnnnn-gry next year.
25 million worth of Flacco coming off the books too... loaded 2020 skill draft...
Salary cap going up and Flacco off the books. Could buy them a few nice upgrades. Don't see how that could be a bad thing

Re: Should CMC be the MVP?
Yep. I think they got too cocky, personally. The dancing around in the 4th quarter on the sidelines, Lamar dancing on the field after a first down up by 4 scores, Earl Thomas guaranteeing they'd be in the SB in November etc. They played loose all year, and had the lead most of the time. All 3 of their losses, they got behind by 2 scores. They never overcame more than a 7 point deficit all year. They just weren't equipped to come from behind. This might have been their best shot at a SB with Lamar on his rookie deal, with home field and a bye, and they did not step up. I think they need better outside weapons, and not be so dependant on Lamar running, he won't last running the amount he did this year. I really wonder if Roman will get a HC job, too. Defences will have the opportunity to adjust, and although I think Lamar can still have success, I really think this year was the high water mark for him, in terms of Fantasy Football.jenkins.math wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:38 amHe can be angry all he wants, but any QB isn't long for this league if they cant beat teams from the pocket consistently.
