Rams: Ramsey in/Peters out

Postby FantasyFreak » Tue Oct 15, 2019 4:56 pm

Rams are shaking things up in their secondary. Desperate times call for desperate measures. IDP guys will have a say, but what does this do for teams within that division, FF wise? All WR's get a downgrade twice a year, basically?

Rams gonna regret sending 2 1sts for a marginal upgrade at DB.

I honestly don't think this causes a huge downgrade for teams facing them. Ramsey is great, but overrated.

It certainly makes the Jags an interesting team to monitor with those 1s now.

Yep. Rams are going to be a dumpster fire in a few years.

Seems like a bit of a panic move. Snead should have posted to the team advice forum first.

Yeah, they are definitely planning to go the roller coaster route - no middle of the pack for them! This may help them for 1-2 years, but they are going to be hurting when it comes time to pay some other players and don’t have inexpensive talent coming in via 1st round picks.

yes because peters can't play man. they tried to make him play it last season and he got torched endlessly so they had to switch back to zone.

this year they've played zone again and have been picked apart the last 3 weeks. wade's scheme doesn't work well with zone at the back. so peters had to go.

gee, where have i heard that before.

2016 - when they traded up for goff, mortgaged the fututre, blah, blah, blah. how did the titans go with that trade?
2017 - when they signed mcvay as hc, he's too young, it's never worked out before, blah, blah, blah.
2018 - after making all those moves, too many personalities, mcvay can't handle them, eagles dream team scenario, blah, blah, blah.

i think they'll be just fine.

Makes sense, Jalen is one of the best (if not THE best) man to man CBs in the game, but the Jags haven't been using him in man, and that's been part of his frustration. Peters is not great in coverage by NFL CB standards, where he has thrived is making plays and causing turnovers, which is easier out of zone, but also means he can be burned.

Ultimately not sure how much this helps the Rams considering their issues on offense, but they got a great player no doubt. Can make the argument they have 2 of the top 5 defensive players in the league, and 2 guys who are the best in the league at their position. Now we watch and see how it works.

Problem with the trade is that Ramsey can't run the ball and he doesn't run block or pass block. That is Rams problem right now. That offensive line in embarrassingly bad and Goff is getting killed. Gurley just isn't right and Henderson hasn't show enough for me or the Rams coaching staff. Ramsey contract is up after next year and Kupp is up after 2021. In 2021 Rams will prolly be 3rd in their division. They might be last if Kingsbury and that midget qb gets things going and those rookie wr's pan out.

Well they did acquire Austin Corbett from the Browns in a seperate deal. Now obviously if he was playing well the Browns never would have moved him and he would have been starting, but he was the 33rd overall pick last year and maybe a change of scenery/scheme/coaching staff will do him some good. He's not going to return them to last years OL performance, but he can't really be much worse than the guy he's replacing on the OL.

can't remember many negative comments when they appointed mcvay. nor can i remember much said about the rams other than "they're going for it" the following season. goff is way overpaid.

regardless, they went all in for the superbowl and didn't get it, they're worse than last season, don't have a QB on a rookie deal anymore, they're not picking in the first round until 2022.
just fine!

I agree that it's a panic move and that their future is rough but Peters is horrible. Could not have been happier when the Chiefs traded him. Dude gets burned all game and then catches a tipped pass to pad his stats. Ramsey is a massive upgrade from him
