Could you imagine being Dan Bailey, heading into the season with no competition and then the Vikings use draft capital to acquire your potential replacement? Not good.

Curious what the chances are he doubles as a Punter and Kicker. In a league that starts and rewards both, he could be a low level 'cheat code' if he does. Saves the Vikings are roster spot too...though puts a lot of eggs in one basket as well, as Kicker and Punter often are the emergency backup for the other in-game.

I would not be surprised after reading this little tidbit:

"Vedvik joined Marshall as a redshirt freshman in 2013. In 2017, Vedvik kicked a 92 yard punt, the 7th longest in FBS history and the longest since Ray Guy's 93 yard punt in 1972."

Apparently he originally wanted to play WR but Marshall felt he was better suited to playing kicker.

As a Ravens fan, I'm happy to see a pick in return for him as well as his own success. He was doing really well last year too, until someone jumped him or whatever... Glad he got a 2nd chance and damn did he make the most of it

I picked him up in my league on waivers for $1 this afternoon. All of the reports I'm looking at are saying Vikings are leaning towards cutting their punter, having Bailey kick FG up to 39 yards, and have Vedvik punt + kick long FGs. I find it hard to believe Dan Bailey is the answer either. Messy situation, but worth $1 to watch it unfold.

I like playing in leagues that have variable scoring for Kickers. So rather than just 3 points for a FG, you get points for the FG, and then bonus points for the distance. It could be possible, even without having to revert to start 2-3 Kickers, by adjusting their scoring, to make them even more valuable.

Interestingly enough, the success rate of NFL Teams that draft kickers, is one of the highest compared to the success rate at other positions.

Roberto Aguayo worked out well for TB too.

Yet the best kicker in the league (Tucker) goes undrafted despite playing at Texas.

I'm not sure if it's still the case, but I read an interesting article a few years ago (I think it was ESPN) that the Ravens were the only team that employed a kicking coach and really went into the development of kickers. All the other teams just had the ST Co. and the K/P were mostly left to their own devices outside of team drills requiring their presence. I think this has really shown in Baltimore's kicking game, and being able to flip a kicker who has no shot at actually playing for you is a huge win for Baltimore, won't be surprised if they continue to look for a developmental prospect to flip every year or two.
