KC Chiefs win projection

Postby Pullo Vision » Sun Jun 30, 2019 2:48 pm

KC has a ton of moving parts this year-
1- 2nd year starting for Mahomes
2- Potential Hill suspension
3- Damien Williams and the RBs post Hunt
4- Watkins and the WRs
5- New faces on defense

How many games do you expect the Chiefs to win in 2019? How FO you weigh these variables in your vote? Do you consider other factors? It doesn't look like divisional opponents have markedly improved.

This poll runs 14 days.
League #1- 14 tm ppr, 1Q, 2R, 3W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1K

League #2- 12 team PPR, 1Q, 1R, 2W, 1T, 1 R/W/T, 1 W/R/T, 1 Def

League #3- 12 tm PPR, 1Q, 0R (yes, ZERO RB) 3W, 1T, 2 R/W/T flex, 1 Def

I expect 10 wins, and for Mahomes to play at a similar level but to less statistical success. If Hill is suspended (I think 6 games is in the cards), I don't believe in any of the team's skill position players as elite talents other than Kelce. If Hardman is able to step up as an immediate starter that could all change, but I think he'll need a season. The RB corps looks like a liability, though the combo of Hyde and Williams should be more than passable with all the benefit of a Reid system. Hard to predict how the defense will improve as a whole, but it's hard to imagine them becoming a real asset.

I don't weigh it much for fantasy, however. Kelce is the weapon to own this year, don't think Mahomes finishes as the #1 scoring QB but I believe he'll still be the #1 overall QB asset next offseason.

I would also guess 10 wins; enough for the wild card.

I voted 9-11. Their schedule is really tough! I expect that they will still do well, and my guess is about 10-6. But man, that's a tough schedule for any team. Hell, maybe I'll just say 9-7 actually.

You're right, it's not difficult to picture any of these being losses. That's real rough.

And DC’s now have film on Mahomes - not that he falls off a cliff or anything but there should be some bit of a drop off

I’d be more worried about that if some team had figured out a way to even slow him down. The lowest point total they put up all year was 26. The Rams forced five turnovers, so I guess you could build something from that, but having the high powered offense of their own was a least a part of that.

I think Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have more to worry about on this front given how the Chargers shut him down.

Reid has been coaching since '99. He's finished a season with less than eight wins just three times.

well I put in a SB ticket on em before all the Hunt/Hill fallout, so hopefully still a good chunk.

On the advance lines, they are favored in all but 2 games, when they visit NE and CHI. The Vegas O/U is at 10 wins, and that seems about right to me.

Yeah, DC's who had 10+ games of film on him last year didn't fare well. I don't know what the last few games changes. Maybe a whole offseason to plan? I don't know how much of a team's offseason is spent strategizing for one opponent.

KC's biggest concern will obviously still be their defense, which is exacerbated by trading away it's best player in Dee Ford. If there are offensive concerns those are establishing a run game with questionable RBs and replacing Hill's producing in any games he's suspended. Mahomes will likely continue to be a terror.

Yes, a whole offseason to plan. The first offseason for any new breakout scheme or player is when DCs can really scheme up a storm. Being known as the DC who found a way to stop Reid/Mahomes has great value. Coaches will hide their best plays for matchups like that.

Cult pointed out the not-easy schedule and now I have to look at the coaching history blueboy noted.

9-11 sounds about right. Very good team but not a real easy schedule

I'm curious about the reasoning for the two 0-2 votes and the one 3-5 vote. I can guess what they considered, but wonder what they weighed as the most significant. Were they assuming a year long ban for Hill? A Mahomes regression?

Just because there's a Green Party candidate on the ballot doesn't mean you have to vote for them.
