JaMarcus' comeback?

Postby haydn239 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 8:23 pm

JaMarcus Russell's "life coach," John Lucas, has cut ties with the 2007 draft bust and asked him to leave Houston, according to Yahoo's Jason Cole.
Lucas, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1976 NBA draft and all-American tennis player, is renowned for helping athletes with addiction and personal problems. After initially working hard to get back to the NFL, Russell had lost motivation, forcing Lucas to bring in Charles Barkley as a mentor. Both men have now thrown up their hands in frustration with Russell's "deteriorating work habits." Perhaps most damning, Ravens president Ozzie Newsome, a fellow Alabama native, refused a request to meet with Russell in January. Said one source to Cole, "The title of your article should be, 'It's Over.'"

This should finally put the Jamarcus to bed! where is Tony Dungy in all this?

JaMarcus didn't kill anything, so it's not at Dungy's level yet.

I thought J.Russell was already dead to FF.

Dungy wouldn't get involved with J.Russell because Russell has no work ethic or drive to be better.

The only way Russell comes back now is as a lineman. Backup lineman that is. The guy has zero drive to improve on his game and be the best he can be. Once he got paid I think he checked out.

JaMarcus Russell - QB - Raiders Ex-Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell is reportedly contemplating a comeback with the Louisiana Swashbucklers of the Professional Indoor Football League.
The Swashbucklers refuse to confirm or deny the "swirling" rumors. If true, it's evidence that Russell would ultimately like to get back in the NFL. Still just 26 years old, Russell hasn't played since the 2009 season.

The 2013 draft class was sooooooooo bad at QB, that we are now being treated to stories like this on RotoWorld...
Ian Rapoport reports free agent QB JaMarcus Russell is garnering significant interest from "more than one" team.
Rapoport explains no team wants to be associated with Russell at this point due to the circus-like atmosphere it would create. Russell has moved his training to Florida and hired Eugene Parker to represent him as he attempts to complete his comeback. If he fails to make an NFL roster, Russell will look to the CFL for an opportunity. May 28 - 8:58 PM
Although, give the guy some props... he's managed to shed some weight. Again, from Rotoworld...
Free agent JaMarcus Russell is reportedly down to 265 pounds.
When Russell started his latest comeback attempt, he was at 315. Shedding 50 pounds shows the former No. 1 overall pick is committed, but another shot in the NFL still appears highly unlikely. Russell will turn 28 in August and has been out of the league since 2009. May 28 - 10:55 AM
I'd like to drop about 50 pounds. If his career as a professional QB fails, maybe J-Marc could write a diet book.
