Royce Freeman kind of surprised me. Landing in Carolina probably kills any Hubbard 3DB hopes (for if McCaffrey gets injured).

Nice on both those! MFL also had Xavier Jones listed as a FA previously but he's now an LAR RB.
Waived to IR, which allows other teams the opportunity to claim him before he ends up on the Rams IR. You only do this if you don't care to retain his services in the future, so their optimism is low for Jones next year.

Dez Fitzpatrick. 4th rd pick that Tenn traded up to get.
Yeah this is a little bit of a surprise, but people put too much stock in "trading up to get". There's an MFL article somewhere that researches this, with the end result having little-to-no correlation between a player's usage/value.

Totally agree. It is surprising that a rookie forth rounder would get cut at all, but trading up for him means almost nothing in the 4th, other than perhaps they thought he'd go before their pick and didn't like other options at their slot in that round. The value proposition of moving up a within a round shouldn't be over estimated that late in the draft.

Was wondering the same. Curious if that was weighted based on round and how hard they moved up. Moving up in the 6th doesn't mean as much as up in the 1st, 3 spots doesn't mean a whole lot versus giving a bundle of equal-round picks like San Fran's move for Lance.

Jace Sternberger cut appears imminent. Wonder where he'll end up. I've been stashing him, but he's hasn't been able to do much in GB and hasn't had glowing reports any of his 3 seasons to date.

Just noticed Collin Johnson was claimed by the NYG. With Golladay's injury, interesting match.

That’s pretty inaccurate. Jones had an achilles injury, so waiving him allowed them to stash him on IR. There was no chance that another team would claim him off waivers since they knew he would not pass a physical. Waiving him to put him on IR was an administrative move.

Here’s the rule explanation:
*Vested veterans can be put directly on injured reserve without being exposed to waivers. This is what the Giants did with fifth-year offensive lineman Byron Stingily, who was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday with a concussion.

*Up until the first cut-down day, which was Tuesday, injured non-vested players must be placed on waivers through the waived/injured designation before being placed on injured reserve. This prevents teams from stashing young players on injured reserve. Once a waived/injured player clears waivers, he reverts to the team's IR.
