Luck for Lacy++

Postby KCLep20 » Fri Jul 17, 2015 9:34 am

For team in sig:

Get: Andrew Freaking Luck
Give: Lacy, Peyton, 2015 1.11, 2016 2nd.

thoughts? Still in prelim trade phase, but this is what's currently being discussed. just trying to gauge if it's fair or not.

Wow. Give me the Lacy side by a mile. I'd take Lacy alone over Luck.

Not even close for me. Peyton will suffice this year but in a standard 1 QB league, this is way off.

I might accept that if I could trade one of your many WRs for an RB. Luck & those WRs set you up for many years of high production.

I probably wouldn't do all of that, but the only reason why I don't hate this idea is that it's an 11 keeper league, short starting requirements, and your WR strength. It does make some sense to lock up QB and cobble together RB's. In this format I'd bet that you can just spend all of your draft picks on RB's every year and cobble it together when you're that set at WR.

I'd counter with Lacy+Peyton+(2.11 or 2016 2nd but not both)
12 teams, 20 roster spots, hard salary cap $225, 40% drop penalty, max contract 3 yrs (4 yrs for rookies), unlimited total yrs
Start: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, DEF, K; PPR, 6 pts/TD pass
QB: Cam ($29/2015); Wilson ($5/2016)
RB: Gurley ($12/2018), McFadden ($4/2015); C. West ($11/2015), Spiller ($26/2016), Abdullah ($6/2018), Mason ($6/2016)
WR: Demaryius ($64/2015), Decker ($9/2017), DeSean ($22/2015), DGB ($1/2018), M.Jones ($2/2016); Allen ($1/2016)
TE: Walker ($1/2015), Bennett ($11/2017)
2016: 2 1sts

12 teams, 20 roster spots, Start: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex, DEF, K; PPR, 4 pts/TD pass
QB: Wilson, Brees
RB: Forte, Ellington, C. Johnson, J. Allen, Michael, Starks,
WR: Mega, Allen, J.Matthews, Boldin, Stills, Britt
TE: Gronk, Witten
2016: 2 1sts

Lacy side by a mile. It's much easier to cobble together QBs every year than RBs. You can get 80-90% of Luck's production for like 10% of that cost easily after Peyton retires. While trying to get 80-90% of Lacy's production will be 100 times harder. You have one of the few young "stud" RBs don't sell him for 50 cents on the dollar.
12 Team. Roster 22, 4 TS. PPR, TE Prem (1.75). Start 1 QB, 5 flex (2 RB Max), 1 Def, 1 K
QB P. Mahomes, J. Goff, B Zappe (TS)
RB S. Barkley, N. Chubb, R. Stevenson, T. Pollard, J. Cook, K. Herbert, A. Mattison, E. Mitchell
WR AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, C. Kupp, A. Cooper, D. Hopkins, DJ Moore, B. Aiyuk, R. Doubs, K. Boutte (TS), C. Tillman (TS), M. Wilson (TS)
TE M. Andrews
Def Patriots, Ravens

I would say judging by the way you posted the trade you think that this is a slam dunk. I however do not, way too much for Luck. I would maybe trade Lacy straight up for Luck.

I'm interested to hear why people value Lacy > Luck? DLF has Luck at 13 and Lacy at 16, and given Luck should produce top 5 stats for the next 10 years while Lacy might for 5, I'm a bit surprised.

Yes, I understand the argument about there being less top rbs compared to qbs. But is there? Between Luck/Rodgers/Wilson it seems like a lot of ? After that. And I understand the difference between the top QB and the 10th compared to rbs the differential is higher, but given my league structure with only 11 keepers, it seems like getting the top overall dynasty QB would be the smart move.
