Ajayi at 1.12???

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Ajayi at 1.12???

Postby cowboysfan » Mon May 18, 2015 7:02 am

Is Ajayi a nice pick at 1.12? His bone-on-bone issue worries me but I'm drafting this weekend and I keep seeing him slip into that 1.12 range which is where I will be picking at. My team in sig below needs another rb. Is Ajayi the guy to go with if he's sitting there? Or, another thought I have had...do I trade the 1.12 on draft day? If so, what can I expect in return? Thanks.

I would not take Ajayi at 1.12. Bone on bone issue mixed with his NFL Draft Fall should tell you what you need to know. I have seen Ajayi go as early as 2.2/2.3 and as late as 2.9/2.10 range so you can either trade back from 12 and get more juice and still get your guy or trade up from your 2nd round draft slot to get him if you really want to

1.12 is at the point that I couldn't fault anyone for taking "their guy". I've seen Ajayi's stock rise since the draft, and have seen him go in the 2.01-2.03 range in almost every draft, so 1.12 isn't that far off. You're looking at guys like Strong/Funchess/Dorsett/Duke etc at that spot, and I'm not in love with any of them.

If Ajayi is sitting there at 1.12 (which he may vary well be) I will think about taking him but I'm not %100 sold on him simply due to the bone-on-bone thing. I like Coleman also if he is available but I also think I can probably trade the pick at the right time and get decent value.

I'd be all over Coleman at 1.12, but I expect him to be gone before that.

Picked him at 1.16 as I believe in the talents. NFL teams are concerned more about long term and they have jobs on the line for missing high picks. I'm fine with grabbing a player I foresee beating out a subpar talent as early as this year and putting up solid production for a couple of seasons. If less risky picks like Coleman aren't available and you don't think he'll be there if you trade back a bit, I'd take him.

Ajayi at 1.12 is not a bad pick. It's slightly earlier than he's normally going, but that's only because of injuries. He's in a good situation. He's very talented. The only problem is his long term health might be a question.

If you feel you can maximize the short term career he's likely to have because of bone on bone, go for it. I wouldn't do it personally though. Bone on bone is all I need to hear to not draft someone.

I would have tough time taking him at 1.12 . If both QBS go before your pick definitely hold off taking Ajayi. I love his skill set size and athletic ability for NFL. But it might be better idea to get him at a discount via trade mid season if u r in a active trading league.

His NFL draft position should tell you what you need to know. Draft somebody else and let somebody else take the risk.

I personally wouldn't and would try to trade down. If you can't and believe in Ajayi, I don't see anything terribly wrong with reaching a bit for your guy.

I recently took him at 1.14 in a non-ppr. Also saw him go at 1.15 in a non-ppr & 2.10 in a non-ppr, S-flex.

I took him at 2.01, and glad I did. I'd like to ask you all to see where Lattimore went in your 2013 rookie draft and he actually legit shredded his knees. He was barely jogging for draft and I remember him going in the 3rd of rookie drafts. Ajayi was putting up numbers, did not look hindered whatsoever, he's worth the 1.12.

The argument on DLF is "I'd rather trust professional GM's and medical evaluations". Comparing a dynasty owner and an NFL GM is kinda ridiculous. A billion dollar industry looking for face of franchise, long term investments, it's their actual job. This is a hobby and we spend 0-$100 on average per year.

Are you really expecting someone at 2.01 to be a cornerstone of your "team"? 2-3 years for a RB is fine by me. Make a run, flip him, whatever. Compared to the options at that spot, worth the risk. I think every player in the 2nd is a reach for that pick unless someone took a qb in the 1st. I'll roll with the guy that was the 1.06 a month ago and take my chances
