Who to take 1.01

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Who to take 1.01

Postby Casescott77 » Wed May 06, 2015 9:56 am

Hey guys. I have the first pick in the rookie draft. Also have 1.7 and 1.8
1/2 ppr

Qb - Big Ben, flacco, Geno
RB - spiller, ivory, theo, reggie,
WR - Cruz, decker, Harvin, colston, Beasley
TE - green, Allen, miller

So do I go Gurley or Cooper?

I have been all about Gurley at 1.01.
But I think with your squad you take Cooper.
Your squad is in need of a rebuild it looks like to me.
Cruz is coming off a major injury and aging and I don't believe he amounts to much from here on out. Decker is an ok WR2 fantasy wise. Harvin is boom or bust and lately has been a lot of bust. Colston is aging big time and production is sagging with his age. Beasley is meh.
Your TEs are all mediocre although I like Ladarius more than most.
Your RBs are nothing to be excited about except some ppr upside with spiller
And even at QB you don't really have anything great.
When your team needs a full overhaul, IMO you take WR before RB. WRs last longer and by the time your ready to compete, Cooper will be in his true prime.
Gurley on the other hand does have injury concerns obviously and he isn't quite as age and situation insulated as Cooper would be with a clean bill of health. Cooper will maintain his value far longer if both of them "disappoint" early in their careers because he's a WR and not a RB.

If you're going to do this I'd try to trade back from the 1.01 to the 1.02 or 1.03 and see of you can pick up an additional 1st.

Im in the same predicament, but with a better team... I'd go with the safer pick in Cooper.

Given your squad, and my belief that Cooper is the safest in the draft, I go Cooper at 1.1. You can't afford to draft Gurley and him to not work out. I'm not saying that Cooper is 100% a stud, but I do believe he's much safer than Gurley or anyone else in the draft.

I think you take Cooper with 1.01 and Go RB/WR at 1.07 and 8. You should be able to get a Yeldon or Coleman and a decent WR. Could be Perriman/Agholor/Parker/DGB.
