Your most frustrating player

Postby Miah35 » Mon Dec 15, 2014 12:09 pm

For me it's Gio Bernard.

It's pretty frustrating when a 22 yr old player goes from being a top 10 dynasty value averaging 18 PPG(PPR) to likely falling into the 40's in 4 weeks(possibly lower). I blame Hue Jackson, he likely rallied to get Hill in the draft and only started Gio early on because he knew the system. It's situations like this that make me hate dynasty.

I had a long list of disappointing players to choose from but this is the only one I didn't see happening the way it did.

For my team below, the only players on my team that actually gained value on the year is Wilson and Matthews. They have both gained likely and matthews could skyrocket with w good finish and Maclin leaving.

Here is my list of underachievers in order of frustration.

Gio - See above

Pierre Garcon - His QB's are bad but it was really desean that ruined him

Torrey Smith - He has had some decent games but I can't stand him. He hasn't gone over 100 yds or received more than 8 targets all year

Toby Gerhart - Just awful.

Tavon Austin - Is he bad or just underutilized?

Eric Ebron/Jace Amaro - Given their respective offenses, I just thought they would see earlier action. I still like both a lot though.

Which player makes you want to punch something?

I am in the same boat as you with Gio. The good news is I believe that the Bengals, if they make the playoffs, will likely lose in the first round again and Marvin Lewis will lose his job, which means most likely that Hue Jackson finds another job as well. So there is still a little bit of hope for Gio, he's still a buy low candidate for me this off season.

My most frustrating player though has to be Doug Martin. I drafted him in my dynasty start up where we keep 5 players the first year and he was one of my keepers (ray rice) was the other and he has personally guaranteed that I a. Lost in the finals last year and b. will likely lose to the same guy who beat me last year again this year. Seriously I can't believe that my team that is anchored by Megatron, Julio, DT, Jordy, and Gronk is likely to lose in the semis! What the!

My most frustrating player. CJ Spiller.

I can't trade him cause I will never get a fair value.
I can't bench him cause there is always a chance he is going to have a great game.

So I'm stuck rostering him week in and week out as my RB 1/2. At least with the injury I don't have to make those decisions in the last half of the year but still.
DLF Premium league (QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, W/R/T, W/R/T) PPR

WR - Sanders, Woods, Funchess, Jo Brown, Hogan, Ph. Cooper, Heyward-Bey, Wright, Marquess Wilson, Hunter, Goodwin, Fuller

This is an easy one for me. Corderrelle Patterson. Best open field runner I have seen in years. During the pre-season this year, he showed flashes of being a real WR. Week 1 was incredibly exciting and he seemingly picked up from where he left off the end of his rookie season. Now? He is the 4th WR on the roster and isn't doing anything on Special Teams either. The current coaching staff seems to want nothing to do with him. My only hope is that he gets traded because I don't expect Norv Turner to utilize him.

I drafted him at the end of the 3rd round of our startup draft right before Jordy Nelson went off the board...

Spiller (every time I needed even a decent game he would get -1)
Patterson (does he even play in the league any more?)
Stafford (should change his name to choke job/game manager)
L. Green (can someone still keep this hype after not playing)

Basically all of them let me down huge all over the place this year.

Pretty frustrating owning Watkins, as he has no QB...And later drafted rookie WRs ended up beating him out in fantasy points in my league.

I also own Gio, and it's been a bad season for Gio owners.

Watkins for me. I drank the kool-aid like everyone else and took him #1 overall without so much as even a glance at the likes of Benjamin, Cooks, or Beckham.

Honorable mention goes to Michael Crabtree.

I think I own the all-bust team. All these guys I thought would be useful to me this year.

RGIII - might be my MOST frustrating because I lost so many games because my QB could not put up any points.
Michael Floyd - ugh
Gio Bernard - ugh
ASJ - ugh
Eifert - ugh
Amaro - ugh
Justin Hunter - ugh
Marvin Jones - ugh
Bryce Brown - I put him on here because although he might have gained a little value, his usage is quite troubling and I feel like he's just going to be dead weight. Can't cut him, can't start him.
Andre Ellington - I ended up trading him away but still he ended up being quite a dud

Some that have gained value

Latavius Murray - Was thinking hard about cutting him when all of a sudden he got his chance. YAY!
Hopkins - So undervalued, i knew this guy was gonna be solid
Steadmen Bailey
Charles Johnson
12 team, 0.5 PPR, 18 keeper, 25 roster spot, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1FLEX
Notable Draft Picks: 1.04, 1.06

QB - Big Ben, RGIII
RB - Hyde, Latavius Murray, Gio Bernard, Bryce Brown
WR - Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, A.J. Green, Allen Robinson, Charles Johnson, Stedman Bailey, Justin Hunter, Marvin Jones, Marquess Wilson
TE - Eifert, ASJ, Amaro

Just about my entire WR corps. Hunter/Floyd/Holmes/Randle/Decker...ugh. I can't even explain the excitement I had after my start up. I thought my biggest decision was going to be picking who to bench each week, not trying to guess which one to actually play!
Casterly Rock Hard
14 team, 0.5 PPR, 30-man

QB - P. Mahomes, J. Garoppolo
RB - L. Fournette, D. Cook, M. Breida, R. Freeman, Justice Hill, Dex. Williams, R. Burkhead
WR - K. Allen, S. Diggs, C. Davis, C. Kirk, Ty. Williams, Taywan Taylor, J'M Moore, A. Callaway, D. Cain, M. Boykin, B. Berrios, D. Bryant,
TE - E. Engram, V. McDonald, A. Seferian-Jenkins, G. Everett, A. Shaheen

Across my 16 teams, top disappointments are as follows:

1) Brandon Marshall: Have him on 6 of my teams and he has been a headache all season.
2) LeSean McCoy: Only own him in 2 leagues but both teams struggled with him posting single digit numbers each week
3) Jimmy Graham: Had a solid season but not even close to what I thought he would have.
4) Andre Johnson: I understand he's getting older but thought he would at least be a PPR machine.
5) Reggie Bush: Only own him for team in sig. but thought he would at least be a serviceable flex
6) Calvin: Too up and down for me. I'll take him off if he comes through in the fantasy championship next week

7) Josh Gordon: Don't own him in any dynasty leagues but stashed him in all 6 of my redraft leagues and he hasn't paid off. Actually hurting my lineup more than anything. He had too much munchie food during his off time.
