Evaluate this trade before I send the offer

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Evaluate this trade before I send the offer

Postby Niceguy » Wed Jul 02, 2014 12:18 pm

I think Romo is going to have a big year and I lost out on the championship last year because of QB play (Superflex league with 6 points for passing TDs) for Team 2 in sig. I could also use an upgrade at D/ST. What do you think of the following trade offer?

I give:
Ben Roethlisberger
Ben Tate
Jeremy Maclin
4.08

I receive:
Tony Romo
Markus Wheaton
St. Louis Rams D/ST (they finished 6th last year and although I don't normally like to invest in D/ST I think they will be good for a long time)
2.10

Am I giving up too much or is this a fair offer?

Giving up too much IMO.

Ben & Maclin > Romo & Wheaton
Tate & 4.8 >> STL & 2.10

I'd rather have the Big Ben side, but it's pretty close.

I do not think Romo is much of an upgrade on Rothlisberger so would vote againts.

If you think Romo instead of Big Ben will win you the league... I can't say that I agree.

In all of my leagues, Romo finished one spot ahead of Ben, between .05 & .15 points per game more.

I just don't see the time and effort to do this.

The vintage Romo is really not a huge upgrade over Ben, I agree with you. But I'm expecting him to have a big year. What got me believing in Romo this year was a podcast I listened to where Jamey Eisenberg from CBS sports was talking him up for the coming season. His reasons were the following:

• Scott Linehan taking over as Offensive Coordinator
• The Cowboys defense being even worse than last year (which is saying a lot) after they lost D’Ware and Sean Lee. Translation, they are going to be in shootouts and playing from behind a lot and needing to throw.
• The Cowboys have a better O-line than they did last year

Eisenberg projects Romo as the 8th QB this year compared to Ben as the 13th. In a superflex league with 6 point passing TDs, that can make a major difference if Eisenberg’s predictions prove accurate.
