Trading for handcuffs/upside?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading for handcuffs/upside?

Postby lilpuppy99 » Sun Jun 08, 2014 3:11 pm

So I have 4 older halfbacks on my team which puts me in a win now situation.

They are: Arian Foster, Ray Rice, Reggie Bush, and Shonne Greene.

Another owner in my league actually has all the Backfield mates of my players.

He has: Ben Tate, Benard Pierce, Joique Bell, and Bishop Sankey. He also has D Wilson, Lattimore, and Moreno.

Should I consider trying to acquire on or two of these younger guys for one of my established guys...to start planning for the future? Or should I keep my guys and just go for the championship?

Just For example..something like pierce and D Wilson for Reggie bush?

You do realize that Tate is no longer Foster's handcuff right? He's now in CLE. Also, I think you own Sankey's handcuff with Greene, not the other way around. Also, no way I give up Bush for Wilson/Pierce.

Thanks, yes I do realize Tate is in Cleveland and that sankey/greene will probably be similar to BGE/Benard.

Are you saying I should keep my guys? What about targeting Sankey for Rice or Bush? I realize he hasn't proven anything yet... But he could help bridge the gap between old and young.

It looks like you already traded off your 1st and 2nd round 2015 picks, so you are not in a great position to rebuild. You play up to 4 running backs a week.

Greene doesn't hold much value anymore. I don't know if your going to get Sankey or Pierce for Ray Rice, but if you could that would be well worth it. Bush is the only guy you have that you can count on. Your going to have to hope for Foster to make a comeback and stay healthy for a few more years, and watch the waiver wire.

Greene and Rice probably have no trade value, you may have to ride them out and hope they surprise. Foster has value, he might be the guy to shop.

If I were you I would be trying to win this year and giving one last run next year, which after you will definitely be blowing this team up. Get whatever current talent you can now, rebuild in 2016.

Try to get end of career guys. Welker, Andre Johnson, etc. Upgrade your tight end. Send your youth out for vets and worry about a rebuild later
