Eric Decker for 1.03 in 16 team league?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Eric Decker for 1.03 in 16 team league?

Postby meineymoe » Sun Mar 23, 2014 7:37 pm

16 teams. Start QB, RB, 2 WR, 2 Flex, TE, etc...
1/3 PPR.

An owner is interested in Decker, and he is willing to move his 1.03 for a WR.

I'm considering asking for a little bit more... but is straight up a good enough deal?

I'm still a big decker fan so I'll say that's about right. You have some nice flex settings so may not need a RB, but either way that may be too early for Hyde, Mason, Lache or whoever you like. If you're gonna pick a WR then it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to move decker for lee, Benjamin, Matthews etc.....

I would take the pick in that straight up trade, but if he offered the 1.03 pick pretty readily then it can't hurt to ask for a little more like a third rounder too.

He could take the pick then try to trade down for a couple of picks in the middle of the first round or something. Value-wise I think the pick > Decker but I'll admit I'm lower on him than you probably.

You'd want to be looking at someone who is:
1) A better talent (i.e. Watkins, Evans maybe)
2) In a better situation (i.e. Benji landing in Carolina or NO and becoming their WR1/tall receiver)

Right now you have a guaranteed quantity who will get a heap of targets. I'd want to know more about the rookie player situations before taking the risk, but at 1.03 you have plenty of freedom with who to pick, outside of Watkins and Evans. So I'd be doing direct player comparisons and then deciding.

I'm pretty stacked, with McCoy and Lynch at RB, AJ Green and Gordon at WR -- I'd have Riley Cooper as my WR3.
At QB I have Roethlisberger and Bradford, and nobody at TE with Gonzo retiring.

I'd obviously take best player available, so probably a WR -- but I like Decker with the Jets, and when you're talking any of the WRs on the next tier after Watkins, you don't want to end up picking the one that turns out to be a bust...

The other thinking is if a Bortles or Bridgewater goes somewhere and is an instant starter - 16 team league, QBs are golden. Anyway, the pick would become that much more valuable to a team with no QB. Not that I'd want to take a QB that early.

Perhaps getting the pick, then trading down and picking up a starting TE or other devy player plus a mid first rounder might be something to try later... but maybe I can do that with Decker too....

I think I agree that the value between Decker and the 1.03 is pretty comparable, but Decker is at least the proven commodity, so should be worth more.

I'd take it. 1.03 is a nice pick. Late first I'd have to think more but 1.03 is very nice.

I say tough call for me. I would really not want to be starting Cooper as WR3 but the value seems pretty good.
I still think Decker is more valuable than what you can buy him for now but 1.03 is better than most of the post-NYJ deals I have seen done including Decker.

I think from a value perspective I would make the trade because 1.03 is likely to hold it's value better than Decker.

I think with Decker landing in NY, I'd take the pick. Yeah, he might get a ton of targets there but are we sure he can handle being the number one, getting the other team's top CB and possible double-teams? I think his floor dropped quite a bit moving to NY and I think I'd rather take a gamble on the 3rd best rookie.

I like the pick side. I don't think that Decker is a bum, but the Jets have a horrible situation at QB. I think Decker's numbers will go down as he gets a bigger slice of a much smaller pie.

Decker will be paired against other teams top CBs. Not to mention he will be playing against Stephon Gilmore and Brent Grimes twice a year......oh and that Revis guy.

If you're that desperate at TE then Ebron should definitely be considered if he ends up in a good situation.
