Trade 1.05 and 3.09 for 2015 1st and 2.03

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade 1.05 and 3.09 for 2015 1st and 2.03

Postby Purple Pride » Sun Mar 09, 2014 2:50 pm

I have been rebuilding this team since 2012 and currently feel I have ok young talented players for QB, WR and TE but very sad RB situation. I have not been getting good offers to trade my 1.05 for a better RB that is still mid to low age and everything I hear about this draft is that the rookie RB situation this year is not very hopeful.

I'll let you know that this league is heavy into RB's and over the past few years they draft heavy in the first round guys that I see mock drafts call out for mid second round. So I thought of this strategy and I want to know your thoughts.

I feel that if I can get another pick at the start of the second round I could scoop up a "best player available" first round talent that falls to the second round. So I have offered my 1.05 to a rebuilding team that does not have a first rounder for his 2015 first, if he will upgrade my 3.09 with his 2.03.

This way I would have the 2.03, 2.04, 3.04 and 4.04 this year and 2015 I would have (2) 1st rounders and be in a better spot to grab a couple high rated RB's next year. That way in this years draft I feel I could still possibly get a good WR or prospect RB that falls to me at 2.03 and 2.04 this year and have those 2 first rounders for next year.

What do you think? Is this a good trade?

I dunno. I think the 1.05 is a high enough pick that I wouldn't want to give it up to gamble on where the 2015 1st would be.

I like the idea of moving back in this draft, thinking about doing it myself. I think you're giving up too much though. I'd drop the 3.09 from the trade and offer the rest.

I much rather have the 1.05. if the draft goes the way you say and say the top 3 rbs are off the board before the 1.05 then you should have a GREAT WR and can look to trade later. If you make the trade you may end up with a 2.03 and say a 1.10 in 2015 which will not make it any better to get a good rb because you have said they all go real early.

Where is the OP's pick likely to fall? If you think it will be a high pick then I'd take this trade. This years draft is deeper than ever and top heavy at WR so you can probably still get a great RB at 2.03.

I believe the other team would end up with a mid to high draft pick next year, it is also a rebuilding team. Does that chance some of your perspectives.

They also are allowing trades during the draft this year. So I could ask him to keep this trade in mind and keep my 1.05 pick til the draft, then watch to see who goes in the top 4, then if something crazy happens like Watkins falls to 1.05 then I grab him. If not then maybe I ask for the trade at that time. Although there is not guarantee that he would not change his mind at that time.

I think it totally hinges on where you think the 2015 first will be.... if his team is horrible then i make the trade.....

More then likley tho hearing what you said about your leagues propensity to over draft RB's i would sit on the 1.5 and take either Watkins or Evans all day every day.

Looking at your sig i think the best thing for you to do is part with either gronk or thomas and upgrade your RB core......

And i love seeing Patterson on there i think he is going to be a beast this year

I am also not that big on Gordon... I think that he will not do what he did last year for sure... No Norv
