Mannings backup - which one?

Postby The Pyrate » Sat May 11, 2013 6:58 pm

Who is the QB in Denver to take the reigns when #18 hangs it up? Is there any dynasty value long-term here? I'm looking at least 3 years out.

Make your case for Osweller or Dysert below:
THE PYRATES. Terrorizing this league since 2006 - Playoffs (06,07,10,11,13-16,18, 19)
4 Division titles, 5 Superbowls (2006, 2013-2016), 2013 CCFL Champions

QB: D.Watson, T.Bridgewater, C.Newton, AJ.McCarron, J.Hurts-R
RB: D.Henry, K.Drake, A.Dillon-R, D.Evans-R, R.Armstead, D.Lewis, F.Gore, B.Hill, D.Williams, D.Dallas-R,
WR: M.Evans, J.Smith-Schuster, C.Ridley, C.Kirk
TE: T.Kelce, C.Herndon
K: M.Gay, M.Prater
DEF Texans, Seahawks

14-team, 2 division, non-ppr with salary caps. Starts 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, K, DST
Pillage FIRST! THEN burn. Doing it the other way around is pointless.

Can I go with none of the above? I don't think either is an NFL starter.

I have to plead ignorance on Dysert, but you gotta like a QB who's 6'8" in Osweiller.... :)
12 teams, 6pts all TDs, 1/2 pt PPR. 1QB, 1RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D, 2 FLEX RB/WR/TE

QBs - P Mahomes, Tua Tagovailoa
RBs - Bijan, J Jacobs, K Walker, B Hall,
WRs - AJ Brown, J Waddle, DJ Moore, T Higgins, D London, Smith-Njigba, J Downs, M Wilson, AT Perry
TEs - D Kincaid, Musgrave
Ks - Boswell, McPherson
Ds - Texans, Jets

2024 - 2 1st rounders... Picks 1.5, 1.7..

If I have to take one, I'm taking the guy that's been in the system a year longer.

12 team non PPR QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, d/st
Luck, Locker
TRich, DMC, Gio, Rice, Pierce, Ball
Cobb, Jennings, Welker, Amendola, Floyd, Sanu, Edelman
Graham, VDavis
49ers

Watch some game footage of Osweiler and Dysert and tell me what you think. One of these guys is clearly a long term project if he stays in the NFL.

Osweiler. Recent reports talk of his arm power and that footwork has greatly improved this past season.

Osweiler is god-awful and was woefully inaccurate in college. I actually like Dysert a good bit more but obviously doesn't have the time in the system like Brock does.

I think it's Osweiler. Im rooting for Dysert, as he may be the closest connection I have to an NFL player :) . A buddy I work with is Dysert's brother-in law. He is married to Dysert's sister. We live in Ohio.

Elway loved Osweiler. I don't see it myself but he's the clear favorite to take over.

DEN - Dysert needs work, Osweiler stands out

Source: Cecil Lammey - ESPN Denver, Footballguys.com

Denver Broncos QB Brock Osweiler stood out today at the first day of OTAs. He showed plenty of zip on his passes and threw with proper footwork and good touch. By contrast rookie Zac Dysert struggled with accuracy and was seen overthrowing several passes at Dove Valley.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Some painted this as a backup QB controversy where Osweiler would be pushed by the rookie. Nothing could be further from the truth. Osweiler is essentially entrenched as the backup behind Peyton Manning and is considered the QB of the future. Dynasty owners need to take note here. Dysert is a nice developmental QB but has a lot of work to do in order to make the most of his potential.

Thank-you for all the feedback.

I did pick up Osweiler in my May waiver wire processing. He is my QB3.
