rookie draft to start - your thoughts on use of picks

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

rookie draft to start - your thoughts on use of picks

Postby UCF Knights » Sat Apr 28, 2012 5:44 am

This is a new 10 team, 22 man roster PPR league. Passing TD's are 4 pts, all other scoring standard. The uniques feature is you must start 2QB/2RB/2WR/2TE/2DST/1PK every week. We are drafting our rookies next week. I have the following picks: 1.03/1.04/2.07/2,08, so it's picks 2,3,17 and 18. Here is my roster thus far:

QB: Brees/Palmer
RB: Rice/Stewart/Ridley/Redman
WR: Maclin/T.Smith/Holmes/Amendola/Collie
TE: Hernandez/Gresham/Winslow
DST: Packers/Patriots
PK: Crosby

Considering this roster and our format:
How would you use the picks? I was thinking Luck or RGIII wih the 3rd pick. I figured TRich will not be available. Would give me a QB for a long time in the 2 QB set up. Then either Martin/Blackmon/Floyd with the 4th. Or would you forego the QB and grab two from the list of 3 and try to grab a QB at the 17/18 spot. Your thoughts ?

Then for the 17th/18th take BPA.

Since you start 2 QB's then I would grab either Luck or RG3 if they are there......Like you said you can have a starter for a long time. As for Martin/Blackmon/Floyd that is a tuff call. Depends on who you have rated higher really.
Standard Scoring with 6pt TD (Salary Cap and Contract League) 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1 Flex(WR/TE/RB) 1K, 1DEF
QB: Foles, Romo, Cutler
RB: Foster, J.Charles, Gerhart, Gio, Martin, Rainey, Cyrus Gray (Taxi), Latavious (Taxi), Christine Micahel (Taxi)
WR: Dez, T.Y., Cobb, A.Roberts (ARZ), Boykin, Marvin Jones, Wright(TEN), Stills, Morgan (NO),Toon (taxi), Mallette (Taxi), Quick (taxi), Wheaton (Taxi)
TE: J.Thomas, Rudolph

I would grab whoever is left over from the QBs and then Martin.

Luck, RG3, Richardson, Blackmon. That'd be my board today in a 2 QB draft and take the two that fall to you. QBs in the 17/18 range will have limited upside. Grab your highest rated guys at that point, maybe a top TE.
10 Team/26-man dynasty/PPR/Year 10/4-6 pt TDs/2QB-2RB-2WR-2RB/WR-2TE
QB-Goff/Rosen/Lock/Grier/Luck
RB-Mack/Hunt/RoJones/Bernard/Snell/AP/Edwards/Ajayi
WR-ODB/Robinson/T.Williams/Davis/Anderson/Cobb/Renfrow
TE-Kelce/Goedert/Njoku/Rudolph/Oliver
2020 - Currently and likely 1.01, have all of my own picks

If both RG3 and Luck are off the board, go with T-Rich and Blackmon (Martin is a temptation but you need both RB and WR). If not, grab the one who is remaining, with an own preference for RG3. In any case, you will upgrade your team for sure.
