Gibson for DJ Moore?

Postby IWantToDieNasty » Mon Jan 10, 2022 5:38 pm

Have a deal on the table to trade Antonio Gibson for DJ Moore straight up. Team in sig. I think the value is pretty close, and with Gibson sub 4 yards per carry and not used much in passing situations, I'm starting to think his value may never be higher. I'd also like to shift my team balance from RB to WR a bit. I like DJ Moore and think an improvement in his QB situation could spike his production immediately, but there's no guarantee that will happen.

The offer doesn't explicitly expire and it's a long offseason, so trying to make a different Gibson deal and circle back is definitely an option though of course things can change quickly.

With different starting requirements, I may hesitate to give up a young RB like Gibson. But seeing that you only have to start 1RB, I'd take Moore here.

I'm not the highest on Gibson but don't view Montgomery overly high either. With Moore badly needing a QB to make the jump, I would lean holding here based on your RB room and let the offseason play out a bit.

With 14 TDs in four years. Never more than 4 in any one season. Even three consecutive seasons of 1100+yds stops impressing me. 1157yds on 93 receptions looks impressive, but that 68yds/gm kind of puts it back in perspective. Especially when combined with that TD rate.

The hope for Moore has been that a new QB will improve his stats. I'm starting to think a better QB would spread the ball around more and if Marshall improve, Robby sticks around, and the team improves at TE, the Panthers' passing offense could improve but Moore's stats could stagnate.

I don't see DJM overtaking more than 1 or 2 of the WRs ahead of him in 2021 stats. And I can easily see 7-10 guys behind him overtaking him.

At this point, I'd rather have a RB1 than a low-end WR2 who might slide into WR3 territory.
