Two Roads Diverged..

Postby stevothepirate » Thu Dec 02, 2021 1:31 pm

Hey Everyone! Down to the wire here. Which trade option appears better for Team 1 in sig below? If I give up the 2nd, I'm left with only a first going into next year, so holding may also be an option.

Option A:
Give: 2022 2nd (mid-late)
Receive: Gronk, 2022 3rd (mid)

Or

Option B:
Give: 2022 2nd (mid-late) + a piece (Russell Gage type)
Receive: Tyler Lockett

Thanks!

Assuming you're contending, option A. Somehow Gronk is still a locked in TE1 when he suits up - a high end TE1 at that.

If you're not contending this year I pass on both of these.

I think Gronk offers the most upside based on positional scarcity if you are all in on a title push. He has been really solid when in the lineup this year and looks the least likely to disappear in the offense any given week.

I think this is really what it's going to come down to for me, and part of the reason I'm going to the boards is I have rose colored glasses..

If you're contending I am really confident in Gronk putting up numbers in every game he starts.

I mean, just look at those games when he plays. He's an elite tight end. Oft-injured, but dominant on the field.

And Kelce is still regarded as the TE1 overall by some people. They're-the-same-age.

And it's not like you're guessing a lot. If he's starting, you play him with full confidence. If he's not cleared, you sit him and find somebody else.

I think both are fairly decent prices for the players in question. But I would probably hold if I were you. No disrespect intended, that doesn’t look like a championship caliber team to me. You have some nice pieces to work with, but it’s neither top heavy enough or stacked with enough top end flexes to make a serious run. I don’t see either of those deals being enough of a needle push to make a big difference in that regard. You are going to need to get lucky to win out in the playoffs. That can certainly happen. Keep your 2nd and cross your fingers that Lady Luck gives you a wink.
