Buying Tua in rebuild?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Buying Tua in rebuild?

Postby Badgersfan222 » Thu Dec 02, 2021 5:42 am

Are you guys buying Tua if you’re in a rebuild?

I have an opportunity to get him with Pitts and 2 firsts for K. Murray and Gesicki. It’s 12 team SF/PPR & 1.75 PPR for TE.

Pets and pets alone make it almost worth it. I’ve seen the comparisons of two I do is for 16 total starts being equal and actually better than Kyler. Not saying he is Murray but he starting to look like not as much of a bust. Just curious where everybody stands on him

I in the almost minority of thinking, barring injury Tua is almost certainly the starting QB in Miami for the next handful of years. And at his current production level, he's looking like he'll fall in the fantasy QB8-QB16 range - that makes him a worthy target for SF. I peg him around QB11-12 which would be even better.

Murray has produced much better than Tua so far. My eyes are telling me Murray may become an injury risk at least on Tua's level. He's putting himself at risk too much, and he's a smallish player anyway. It's possible he's on the RG3 path to becoming an explosive young player who disintegrates because of injuries. I don't say that to say I think Murray is a huge injury risk right now - just to say it's not like you would be trading an iron-man QB for one who's already had his share of injuries like Tua.

That said, right now, I'm keeping Murray+Gesicki. Murray is better than Tua, and I'm not convinced Pitts is going to produce that much better than Gesicki. Currently, Pitts and Gesicki are about even for the season. I wouldn't trade Murray hoping Pitts makes a historic leap to become the TE1 for the next five years. Murray has proven he's a T3 QB when healthy, and I'm keeping that in SF.

I think you come out ahead in a full rebuild, but I am not sure I would move Murray currently in SF. His value has dipped due to injury and although Pitts has high value, he is still not in the elite level of production consistently. I think this trade is a major gamble unless both 1st look realistically early.

Here's the thing, I don't think I'd like tua in a rebuild, but the value you are getting here is huge. I'd make that move very quickly and then probably look at what I can get for tua.

The picks were going to be late but the guy pulled the trade back and said he doesn’t think he should have to include draft capital and said if you were to do it it would just be two for two which I obviously said no way too

Somehow, I completely missed that two 1sts were included. Yeah, that's the winning side.
