Why did Sutton have to stay/what is his value now

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Why did Sutton have to stay/what is his value now

Postby Mjvb5 » Mon Nov 22, 2021 8:48 am

Myself, along with most other Sutton owners, were hoping to god he could get out of Denver. However he is now stuck in this crowded WR room without a QB who can really support it unless they go FA hunting. As such what would you all say his value is now, a first seems like a borderline pipe dream at this point, but selling for a 2nd seems light

At this point I'd probably hold until the offseason and see if they bring in a competent QB because like you stated you're probably not going to get the value you deserve in return for him right now.

Definitely a hold for now. Teddy B isn't the long term answer and I think the Drew Lock experiment is over. Keep your fingers crossed that they bring in a real QB. Maybe Matt Ryan or Watson get dealt there, or maybe Aaron Rodgers gets fed up with GB again and walks this offseason after they flame out in the Playoffs like they almost always do in GB.

Denver is a good football team that is just a QB away from being a legit contender, and the front office knows that they have to keep pace with Herbert and Mahomes for the next decade so I could see them making a splash at QB this offseason.

I think his value has dropped to a late 1st at this point, but I also do not see the point in moving him for that type of return. He is a hold and hope.

Maybe I am over confident with him, but I see him as a legit #1 NFL WR that will be fine in Denver. Is Bridgewater the ideal QB for him, no. I agree with others that he will not be the QB in Denver next year. He is a buy target for me

I think the coaching staff is to blame. They have a defensive-minded HC and they don't seem to be creative enough to take advantage of Sutton's massive talent. Sutton and Jeudy should be a devastating combo and instead we get a lot of... meh.

The silver lining is that they'll get a new QB for certain and I'm thinking coaching changes are also on the horizon. Fingers crossed. It is absurd how little he is involved at times.

Denver seems close to being a great football team. I think that offense could really become something quickly if they find the right QB.

I'd be holding Sutton now. He's an alpha WR and young enough to bounce back and boost his value back up.

Just need the whole offense to take the step forward and I'd feel pretty good about that happening. That organization doesn't feel as shaky as others in the NFL.

He was never gonna just be let go, but say he gets out ... to where? Chicago? The Jags? Pats? I don't see many spots where he walks in and you're a happy owner. On the other hand, Denver IS going to make a splash at QB, and probably coach too. Whether it's Watson or Rodgers, or you have to roll the dice with someone else, I wouldn't be too unhappy as a Sutton owner.

Which I'm not, nor a Broncos fan. Just thought it was a funny take. Besides, Sept 2022 is a longgggg way away.

Sutton is a buy for me now. Go get him and hope that Denver brings in Rodgers, Watson, or Wilson. Even if they don't bring in one of those big three they are likely going to be bringing in someone. When they do, Sutton gets a value jump.

I think the Broncos have already set the wheels in motion to land Rogers, or even another big name at QB. They have all the pieces in place, are making a little cap room, and preparing to land a big name QB. If they do, they instantly become a Super Bowl contender, which will also help land a big name at QB. I believe all their players are holds, and am really excited to see how the offseason plays out for them.

I don’t think they resign both Sutton and Patrick with Jeudy in place unless they have a solid plan in place. I’m betting Rodgers myself, but there are three or four others that could constitute a step up.

Plus they know how this works..they did it with manning. Get the team around the QB and then go out and get the vet QB. I think it's Rodgers or Wilson. Rodgers is easier because it may just cost cash. Wilson is a bit harder as it would require a trade. Watson also certainly a possibility but I think he ends up in Miami.
