Smash accept for J Taylor?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Smash accept for J Taylor?

Postby Dibbles » Wed Nov 10, 2021 3:21 pm

Bit nervous to lose Cook as he has been the core of my team for years, but I've been snakebit in semis/finals 3 years running and wondering if now is the right time to move off him (especially with recent allegations). I'm 9-0 with most points and should lock up the #1 seed for a bye in 1st round. Just confirmed the following trade in Superflex, only need to hit accept:

Cook + Darnold + PJ Walker + my 2022 1st
for
J Taylor + Wentz

My roster:
1 QB, 1 SF, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex
Russ, Burrow, Darnold, Fitzmagic, PJ Walker
Cook, A Jones, Mixon, AJ Dillon, Mattison, Jamaal Williams, Gainwell, Hasty
Adams, Tyreek, Jefferson, Evans, ARob, Mooney, Renfrow, Slayton, Fuller
Kittle, Schultz, J Smith, Irv Smith

Thanks in advance!

The 1st makes this a bit tougher but Taylor is the #1 back in dynasty and has better years ahead then Cook. It does feel pricey, but I think this is a good move to get out of Cook for a young elite back. Darnold and Walker both have very little value even in SF and you win there with Wentz too. Darnold had hopes coming into the year, but he just does not have it. He looks like a career backup moving forward.

Appreciate the thoughts, guess I'm most concerned with losing out on this year (if Taylor goes down). With Cook, I have Mattison to back him - but realize the upgrade to Wentz from Darnold/PJ could be big this year as well in a pinch. I also potentially have the option of grabbing Monty for my 1st + Mooney + Gainwell, wondering if that is a better route to playing it safe for this year?

I followed up on the new post. Short answer here, still the Taylor deal for me.

Like the JT side. Wentz is better than Darnold and JT is better than Cook and a late 2022 first. I think DLF would show the trade even but I think next few years it's JT side.

As someone who has Wentz, JT and Darnold on my team I feel like I have a good feeling of their value and I would make the move pretty easily. Your pick is virtually guaranteed to be very late, JT has been better than Cook this year and also is 22 years old with no injury history. Wentz is also a decent 3rd qb for sf, I’d make this move. You’re getting the best asset and the best qb in an sf trade, that’s a pretty easy accept.

Definitely a smash accept for me. The long term value isn’t even in dispute, but it seems like you’re mainly concerned about getting weaker this year. Speaking as someone who owns zero shares of anyone in this trade, I’d make this deal even in redraft. I feel like you’re letting your sentimentality about what Dalvin’s done for you in the past get in the way of turning the clock back 3.5 years at the position with the shortest shelf life. Regardless of which one has the better ROS, I’d be really surprised if the difference was significant enough to cost you a championship. If you’re winning with Dalvin, you’re probably winning with JT too, right?

And not for nothing, but the fact that you get to keep Mattison is actually a positive. I’m surprised this other owner didn’t include him in the trade, even at the expense of PJ Walker. Even if nothing comes of Cook’s latest off-field drama, he’s still had trouble staying healthy. This trade doesn’t change Mattison’s value. He just goes from being an insurance policy to a lottery ticket.

Easy deal to make. JT >= Cook and Wentz > late 1st

Smash accept for me. You’re getting the #1 dynasty RB and a solid QB upgrade. I’m usually high on picks but a late 1st in this class doesn’t carry much weight for me. Think that pick is more likely to miss than not. I’ve been trading out a lot of those for current value.

That's pretty much Taylor for Cook, imo. Wentz is at least worth the 1st, and the Carolina QBs don't really factor in. Smash accept for me.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

Smash accept for Taylor, plus you mentioned you like having Madison if Cook goes down, but from what I see you can still have Madison and make this trade. Hey, maybe you make the trade and cook does go down then you can have Taylor and Madison together which is like getting both the backs Taylor and Cook. That would be a killer win. If you don’t make the trade you’d only have Madison is Cook goes down.

Yea, make this trade and keep Madison!

This is an instant smash accept for you. Taylor is lightyears ahead of Cook in dynasty value. And I value Wentz much more so than I value Darnold at QB.
