The rotting corpse of Zach Ertz

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

The rotting corpse of Zach Ertz

Postby M-Dub » Sat Aug 21, 2021 7:00 pm

Is he even worth rostering anymore? He was just dropped in league 2 in my sig where my current backup to Hockenson is Tyler Conklin. OJ Howard is also available in that league (I actually dropped him for Conklin but was recently having second thoughts).

I also own Ertz on team 1, along with Logan Thomas and Firkser. I’m planning on only carrying two TEs. Would you guys drop Ertz before Firkser? I may even wind up dropping both of them and carrying another WR/RB until LT’s bye week, or at least until a more viable option emerges on the waiver wire.

Where are you guys at on Ertz? Do you prefer him to Conklin and/or OJH? What about Firkser?
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

I would still gamble on Ertz over Conklin and Firkser. I don't expect much from either of those two. I would be more interested in Howard but I would still see how Ertz comes out and where he lands if traded.

OJ Howard is coming off Achilles injury. He may never be the same. And Gronk is still there. And Brate is also getting snaps.

Firkser *was* intriguing as a possible #2 target in the Titans offense. But then Julio got signed. The #3 in the that run heavy scheme just can't be worth much.

Conklin is a total flyer. And the same argument against Firkser applies to him in Dalvin Cook's run heavy offense. Except his outlook is even worse as you'd be hoping for the #4 target behind J.J, Thielen, and Irv Smith. Maybe even possibly Osborn. Cousins passes a little more than Tannehill but still. Not looking good.

As a bottom scraping TE lowlife I have scoured the depths of TE abyss and looked at all these guys. Would gladly take Ertz for any of them.

I'd hold Ertz over any of those other players. He was hurt last year, but the year before he had 88 rec, 900 yards, so I'd roll with him easily.

Who else is available? Anyone like Dan Arnold? If not any other sleeper choices I think any of those 3 are pretty equal. Ertz, Conklin, howard could all be same tier in scoring at the years end.

Start 1 QB 6 pt passing TD, 2 RBs, 3 WR, 1 flex, 1 TE.

RBs- miles sanders, CEH, Najee Harris, Antonio gibson, James robinson, Boston Scott, qadree ollison, eno Benjamin, Sony michel, kerryon Johnson, gerrid Doaks, Larry rountree,

Arnold is available in both leagues, but after the way Ian Thomas was ignored in that offense last year, I’m extremely hesitant to chase the 5th (at best) receiving option in Carolina, behind CMC, DJM, Anderson and Marshall.

The reason I still like Firkser even after the Julio trade is that it should be a pretty consolidated target distribution with AJB, Julio and Firkser getting the lion’s share of targets. Henry doesn’t catch passes and their D is suspect, so I suspect they’ll at least throw more than they did last year.

Other options available for team 1: Jarwin, Knox, Herndon, MAC, Doyle, Akins.

Team 2 is slimmer picking: OJ, Graham, Doyle, Akins, Uzomah.

The rosters expand by six players during the offseason in both leagues, so there might be better options available on the wire once the season starts. I’m just wondering if it’s even worth carrying two TEs for either team. Both teams have a decent amount of young WRs and RBs that offer more potential upside.
