Potential Metcalf Trade

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Potential Metcalf Trade

Postby lt1hawk337 » Sat Jun 12, 2021 6:06 pm

Good Afternoon Dynasty Gurus.

I am looking to build more competitive team this year, without sacrificing the future. My current team is the 2nd one listed in my signature.

A team in my league has a couple of guys on the trade block that may interest me. His WRs consist of Jefferson, Hopkins, JuJu, Lockett, and Waddle and his RBs Mixon, Harris, Hunt, Gaskin, White. He currently has Juju, Gaskin, and Lockett on the trade block.

I was going to offer Metcalf for Gaskin, Juju, Lockett and a 2022 First, since my team could use some depth at RB and WR. What are your thoughts on this offer?

Even with looking long term, I would hold Metcalf here for the offer/thought.

What would you take for Metcalf? I feel this team in the current configuration is good enough to make the playoffs, but has no chance to win the league. So I'm struggling on how to improve without dealing metcalf.

Hold Metcalf over that. Those players have no ceiling and if you're competing you need to shoot for the best player coming back to be a stud when you're moving a young stud.

Your team has a bunch of young pieces that have bright futures. I wouldn't move those guys for anything other than a smash overpay.

If you're determined to move your Metcalf and compete right away you need to get Mixon+ in return.

Gaskin is a fine player to buy for a year if the price is right and you need an rb2 but he has no long term value and will be replaced IMMEDIATELY when the Dolphins have the opportunity to do so

Metcalf

I don't think your starters get better with that move. You'd add depth but those pieces don't make you more competitive if there's an injury but rather hold you closer to the middle of the league.

Metcalf is your only stud. You build around your studs. You need studs to win.
You might see where I'm going here... :-)

Good luck!

I can see the idea if trading Metcalf with what you are struggling with, but outside of a huge overpay with all young solid assets, I would simply build around Metcalf.

I don't think those are the right pieces to target for Metcalf. He is a top asset and those are all pieces that are declining in value quickly. I'd go for fewer but better pieces if moving Metcalf.
