Value of old RB3 darts

Postby Generic Username » Sat May 22, 2021 5:09 am

Wanting to go after some old RB rentals who seemingly have 2021 opportunity to produce points. Mike Davis, David Johnson, Fournette. Who’d you target and at what price?

ETA - basic 12 team ppr, no special scoring

Davis >> Fournette > DJohnson

Price? Depends on if you're a contender and if this is for a RB1/RB2 for your team or just some depth to make you feel more comfortable. If I'm trying to win now, I'm happy sending a 2nd for Davis to be my RB2. If I'm looking for Fournette to be a depth/Flex play on my middle-of-the-pack team, I wouldn't want to trade much - maybe Reagor/MVS/Kirk or a 3rd-4th.

But as long as Davis has no competition in Atlanta, he is the much preferred option of these three.

Davis is the best option and depending on that owners build, mid 2nd seems fair for a rental. I would not touch Johnson and Fournette is probably going to be too pricey post super bowl effort. I can only speak to my league, but even these RBs are expensive.

I’d consider Chris Carson to that list, I’ve seen him sold pretty cheap recently.
I wouldn’t be trying to buy DJ or Fournette, I’d rather buy low on Rojo and take that chance.

1-QB 1-SF 3-WR 2-RB 1-TE 1-Flex
QB: Allen, Burrow, Goff, Aidan OConnel
RB: ETN, K Walker, Swift, D Pierce, Monty, Herbert, McLaughlin
WR: Deebo, AJB, Lamb, DJM, Dell, Higgins, Jeudy, E Moore, Michael Wilson, Tutu
TE: Kinkaid, Schultz, Njoku

I’m going to chime in since I own 2 of the 3

I’ll say I don’t think David Johnson is dead, as he showed well in the late second half of last year. However he is old and this year may be his las decent year to play with RB2 numbers. If someone is selling cheap I’d buy, especially if you are contending.

Fournette, he’s an interesting one. I still don’t know what to make of him, he looked good in the playoffs. But regular season he going to be fighting RoJo for playing time. Maybe he turned over a new leaf and will be a decent low end RB2, where some weeks he looks amazing then the next goes 8-17 lol. If he’s sold cheap, which I don’t think he will be, nor do I think he will be expensive but his name carries more value than his production. If I didn’t already own him, I’d stay away. His only saving grace was if he went to a new team to be the lead back and that didn’t happen.

My opinion of Mike Davis is meh, he did good last year because Carolina offense is built to cater to a RB. So I think his numbers were inflated because of that.

If I had to pick for just this year

I’d rank them

David Johnson
Davis
Fournette.

Davis even though there is risk there. I’m guessing that atlanta adds a RB when guys get cut from other rosters before the season.
