Travis Etienne Value

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Travis Etienne Value

Postby BabyChark23 » Tue May 18, 2021 4:45 pm

Thinking of trading for Etienne. Would Kareem Hunt make sense for him? Maybe add a 22 second (probably mid 2nd) to Hunt side? Etienne owner also owns Chubb so that could make this offer either more or less attractive.

Etienne >>>> Hunt

Would be more like Hunt/1st/+ for Etienne at this point. Maybe you could get him slightly cheaper when the season starts and Etienne isn’t getting a ton of work.

But yeah, I don’t think Hunt is pulling in any 2021 1st round value...

I agree Etienne > Hunt. I don't think they are remotely close in fact.

I would think hunt is a throw in piece to bridge the gap of some other starting piece. Not the starting point to add something to.

I could see a mid 1st needing to be added at least to Hunt to get Etienne. Hunt is a solid RB, but Etienne is the shiney new rookie with the sky being the limit and is likely very expensive. Where was he drafted in your draft?

I definitely think the draft position of Etienne will be key in judging the cost for you. If the current owner got Etienne with the 1.07 in a 1QB, that's going to be a lot cheaper for you than if he drafted Etienne 1.03.

I drafted Etienne this past Sunday and as much as I like Hunt, I would not trade Etienne in a deal where Hunt was the primary component. If Hunt was part of the deal, I'd want a top15 WR added or a '22 early first. That might sound unreasonable to some, but if I'm going to move him before the season starts, that's what it would take.

He was taken Round 5 of the startup, after all of the big name RBs were already gone. I know an additional piece is needed to add to Hunt to get him, and adding a 1st rounder makes sense to me. I’m pretty surprised to see everyone saying Hunt and 1st rounder plus more. I didn’t realize people were that high on Etienne. It sounds like it is best to stay put for now.

Top end rookies are always crazy expensive right after the NFL draft. I think it's the unknown and potential.

In what league is ETN going 1.07?

I will go against the consensus here: no more than an early 2nd should be added to Hunt, or a player in the range of Cutis Samuel. If I'm buying, I'm not adding more than a mid-2nd.

I can’t tell whether you’re unreasonably high on Hunt or unreasonably low on Etienne, but either way, you’re just not buying, period. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions/valuations, of course, but literally zero Etienne owners would sell for that.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

I can understand the reasoning here for some situations.

A contender in need of a quality RB for the 2021 season might decide to take a proven young veteran who should contribute from week 1 and help his team make the playoffs and contend. A zero RB team will probably be worse off in 2021 with Etienne, and better off with Hunt. Just look at 2020 - such a fantasy team would have done a lot better with Hunt than Akers. Akers is likely the better answer in the long run, but Hunt was outperformed Akers in 2020 and will very possibly outperform Etienne in 2021.
