OTC 1.04 SF

Postby MaddMadden » Mon May 17, 2021 11:00 am

Torn between Chase and Lance. Draft went Lawrence, Harris, Fields.

SF TEP IDP (.75 PPR RB, 1 PPR WR, 1.25 PPR TE). On offense: 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1FLEX, 1SF.

Roster:
QB: Brady, Cousins, Foles, Heinicke, Minshew, Mullens
RB: CEH, Monty, Ingram, Duke Johnson, Kerryon Johnson, Justin JAckson
WR: Dionte Johnson, TY Hilton, AB, John Brown, Kendrick Bourne, Scotty Miller, Tyrell Williams
TE: Mark Andrews, Gedert, Dissly, Herndon, Sternberger

DT: Donald, Linval Joseph, Sheldon Rankins
DE: N. Bosa, Dante Fowler, Kerry Hyder, Henry Anderson
LB:Blake Martinez, Dont'a Hightower, Isaiah Simmons, Demario Davis, Danny Trevathan, Denzel Perryman
CB: Moore, Arnette, Taron Johnson, Levi Wallace
S: Maye, McKinney, Phillips, Woods

I am old at QB and weak at WR. I LOVE Chase, but can likely find a solid WR at 2.04. Not much a market to trade down.

Thoughts?

I'd go Lance. As great of a prospect as Chase is I want the QB in SF.

I was able to trade back...

SEND: Cousins, Goedert, 1.04
RECEVIE: Tua, DeVante Parker, Jonnu Smith, 1.06

I like the deal because it addresses multiple needs: I get younger at QB, add a depth WR, swapped my TE2 from a "Sell high" to a "buy low" and still will be able to select Wilson, Chase, or Lance at 1.06.

Will let you know how it goes when back on the clock.

I prefer what you gave up in the deal as I view Tua as a big risk long term, but sounds like you accomplished your goal to get younger at QB, so good work!

Not on the Tua train Gator? I'm a believer. They got him a lot of help between Fuller and Waddle. Part of his struggles last year were lack of separation from his WRs, and both Fuller and Waddle should be big improvements there. Also in the context of this trade Lance is BPA and a bigger risk than Tua. Value is down the fairway so comes down to preference.

Given roster construct, my team isn't a true contender so accumulating more young talent goes a long way IMO. Cousins
is a 35 year old FA after next year, so who knows what his future looks like after that. Much more of a "win now" guy and doesn't fit my build. Offloading Brady is another big step. We'll see what the season brings.

I totally see where your coming from and could see this trading working out hopefully. I like Tua, I'm just interested to see if he can make a jump in his second year and really nail down the job. His accuracy was a big issue last year and hopefully the added weapons can help. This deal may take a year or so to play out, but again I understand what the goal was here.

Yeah -- Getting benched at the end of a close game for Fitzmagic is hardly a ringing endorsement.

Lance went 1.04 and Pitts 1.05.

Traded TB12, 2.04 and 4.05 for Baker Mayfield and took Chase at 1.06.

To Recap:

Send: Cousins, TB12, 1.04 (Lance), Goedert, 2.04, 4.04
Receive: Tua, Baker, 1.06 (Chase), Jonnu Smith, Devonte Parker

Chase was my guy all along. Needed to add an alpha WR and get younger at QB. Swapped Cousins and TB12 for Tua and Baker. Added 2.04 and 4.04. Downgraded my TE2 from Goedert to Jonnu. Added Devonte Parker for depth (3rd round value-ish). Got my guy Chase at 1.06 rather than 1.04. I know I'll get some hate for that.

Got much younger at QB and improved my WR room immensely for a TE downgrade plus a 2nd and 4th. Value is relatively even, but this is a chess match.

Final grade?

If it was Fields available I wouldn't have hesitated to select him. I'm not sold on Lance. I agree that his legs give hin upside, but not enough to pass on Chase.

I have Lawrence and Fields 1A/1B and Lance a peg down. I've taken Chase 1.01 twice in 1QB leagues and am all in on him.

This roster isn't win-now. I'm a few years away. 1 maybe 2 years of Brady doesn't do much for me.

I think the value here is down the fairway, but I do like the moves given the roster.
