MThomas offer - is this miles off?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

MThomas offer - is this miles off?

Postby NFL123 » Wed May 12, 2021 3:10 pm

Had an offer of Deebo Samuel and a 2022 1st (likely late) for Michael Thomas, is that close or an insult?

I do like Samuel's prospects and I think he is flying under the radar due to last year's injury and I don't have a 2022 1st.....however Thomas (and Kamara) are going to completely dominate targets in the Saints offense and if Winston is the QB, Thomas could put up huge numbers again.

If I was considering it, how much more would you need added to to Samuel side to make it worthwhile for me?

I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

Not even close for me. This is selling super low. If someone wants to add a player to a late 1st to get MT I'm looking for someone like Sutton or Aiyuk. I'd rather hold MT than sell that low.

I would hold Thomas here too. An early 1st on top would be needed. Thomas was hurt all last year and has been one of the best and most consistent WR's for years. No need to sell at his current price in my opinion. Hold and enjoy the production.

Thanks guys, I thought it was a low ball offer but had to make sure. The fact that the Saints are even weaker at WR than last year with Sanders away and with them not doing anything in the draft/free agency, makes me very hopeful for Thomas this year and after last year, he has something to prove.

Will ask in here rather than open a new topic, but in another league (full ppr), I have been offered Calvin Ridley for Antonio Gibson, which of the two do you prefer?

I would hang onto Thomas unless you are in long term rebuild mode.

With Thomas, it's really not about other WRs on the team. It's about him getting into the physical and mental space that he was in 2019. For that guy, the offer you got is laughable.

Calvin Ridley is essentially equal to Gibson to me, really depends on team needs and league format

It is a bad trade (we all know that) but I don't think it's crazy low. Trade calculators have it about 80% value on the MT side but I did want to add this since you asked what would be needed to make it more fair...

MT is sneaky old and the Saints offense is a question mark. I also think Deebo's value is lower than it should be bc of the injury last year and Aiyuk taking the spotlight. I wouldn't do that trade but it's a starting point. You could counter with adding a 2023 1st or if your league hasn't done the rookie draft already, you could ask for their 1st this year plus their original offer. Other potential players to make up the gap would be Kupp, Andrews, Hunt, Chark, Woods, Juju, or Hockenson IMO.
