Miles Sanders

Postby PhillySpecial » Wed May 12, 2021 12:18 pm

Any thoughts on getting out of Sanders this offseason? In my opinion, the Gainwell and Kerryon acquisitions don’t really affect the amount of Sanders snaps this season - maybe I am wrong. My thoughts are twofold, he has a great opportunity working with a running QB but he hasn’t met expectations in two years. The life of an RB is short and I am leaning trading him away this offseason.

Is this a classic ‘sell one year early’ situation? I think I could acquire a Jeudy, Sutton, etc level WR with a little extra.

I would much rather lock up Jeudy+ than hold Sanders. I don't think Sanders can carry a heavy workload and I have never been a fan.

If you can get JJ+ or Sutton+ by only giving up Sanders I think you have to do it. I think holding him is very risky considering what we saw last year. He was not a top-notch prospect (like JJ) or a proven stud alpha (like Sutton), and, like Gator noted, he doesn't seem to be the guy who is going to carry a major workload like CMC, Zeke, etc. On top of that, he now has a QB who will steal some carries. I'm very concerned about Sanders' value myself.

I’ll just go ahead say that you will get replies from owners that own him saying they are excited about him and owners that don’t have shares of him are not. Very obvious answers just look at the rosters. But here goes:

Saying miles sanders can’t carry the load is a weak answer imo. He had every single odd possible stacked against him last year and still put up (for the 2nd consecutive year) 1000+ scrimmage yards on a team that did next to nothing. Busted big plays, and a couple of the games he didn’t play were precautionary...week 1 and the last week or so. They were trying to insure he was good by sitting him week 1, he could have played. But yet people sit here and defend mixon....it’s really just baffling. Mixon is Still not on the field much and not producing exciting numbers even when he was. So yea. Take the replies and watch some highlights. Sanders situation is really the only thing people should be concerned about. When a RB still produces respectable numbers on a team that can’t move the ball and has a QB get sacked 50+ times and turn the ball over 25 times that’s him shining through still...sanders was leading the league in YPC for like the first 10 weeks. Regardless of what people say, He’s talented, athletic, and has the vision to run inside. People love to hate on him. If hurts improves the offense, sanders is a great play in any format. Pretty simple.

Miles sanders had (3) runs that hit 74 yards+ in 2020. Think that was just from the super solid eagles Oline? Or was it the rest of the offensive studs that were around him? (Greg ward, fulgham, Hightower, quez Watkins, reagor, ertz, Goedert) . 3 times he took it 74 plus yards. I’d say he’s worth where he’s valued on ranks if not more. He could be in for a nice season.

Yes ZHoward88! Thanks for the kick in the bleep. I love the comparison between Mixon (gets to use every excuse in the book) vs Sanders (gets torched for reasons out of his control). I am having second thoughts now based on your argument and will reconsider my options. RB depth will be at an even higher premium this season with the 17 game schedule so maybe I hold all of my RBs.

I agree - Sanders seems to get constant negative comments and I think he is underrated although I do think Gainwell will hurt his fantasy production in PPR formats quite heavily. Still a low-end RB1 for me.
