Rookie draft 1.04-1.06

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Rookie draft 1.04-1.06

Postby papageo8 » Sat May 08, 2021 2:41 am

Post draft I had 3 pieces of bad news with Rodgers, James Robinson and Boyd all losing value. Took me a while to piece it together and come to terms with it.

Now facing rookie draft with 1.04-1.06.

I am 90% confident the draft will go as follows
1.01 Lawrence
1.02 lance
1.03 Harris

This leaves me with a nice run of 3 of fields, Wilson, ettienne, pitts, chase.

Option A) Value would be to take fields, chase, Wilson

but

Option B) I feel based on the composition of my team I should take (which I'm inclined to do)

Fields, chase, ettienne.

I know 1.06 is an overpay for ettienne but I was high on him pre draft and my opinion hasn't changed even landing in a funny situation at jags with jrob.

I have jrob rostered which makes it a bit odd but I've handcuffed my rb with another very good rb and they do have potential to be very good pair.

What would you do option A or B or another route?
Option A potentially overloads me with qbs Rodgers, Stafford, fields, Wilson, Lock

Option B feel more like trying to compete

Looking at your team I would ask myself...

Am I competing next year? Maybe no?

Do I have draft capital next year? Yes, 3 picks

I play the long game and think how the picks will fall next year which normally means WRs will drop QBs and RBs are a premium.

So i take: Fields, Pitts, Etienne but...I look to trade Chubb and see what I can get to maximise the rebuild.

1.06 isn’t a reach for etienne at all. Earlier than adp maybe but absolutely not a reach for an rb with 1st round draft capital.

wilson, pitts, chase for me. I prefer wilson as a prospect. arm talent is off the chart, footwork is really good, very good accuracy, can run when needed, he's a special player

Fields/Wilson, Chase and Etienne for me looking toward next year if you are not contending. If you land another early pick, you can grab another QB next year.
