Trading Kelce

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading Kelce

Postby never_punts » Fri May 07, 2021 9:11 am

Team #1 in sig. I have both Kittle and Kelce, I considered playing them both this season to have a hold on the TE market, but I'm also aware that Kelce's value is decreasing and I could use a little boost at RB2. This is *not* a TE prem league; 1.0 PPR for all players. FWIW, the rookie draft is going on right now, I don't have any picks of note.

Is this offer even close for a team that needs a TE?

I give Kelce, DJM, Chubb
To get Swift, Gibson, Amari Cooper
Team #1: 12-Team - PPR - *SF* - 4pt Pass - IDP
25 Roster + 5 Taxi | QB, RB, 2-WR, TE, SFLX, 3-FLX | DL, LB, DB
The Moore the Murray-er (2022 Champ 8-) )
QB: Burrow - Lamar - Kyler
RB: Ekeler - Saquon - Gainwell
WR: Amon Ra - Hopkins - Godwin - K.Allen- QJ - Hollywood - Diontae - Shaheed- Wandale - Woods
TE: Kelce - Engram - Ferg - Chig
DL: Hunter | LB: Okereke | DB: Bynum
'24 Picks: Late 1st, Early 2nd, Late 2nd

Team #2: 12-Team - PPR - *SF* - 6pt Pass - TE Prem
25 Roster + 5 Taxi | QB, RB, 2-WR, TE, SFLX, 3-FLX
Team #2 (0-0)
QB: Murray - Allen - Winston
RB: Cook - Saquon - Mattison - Hull
WR: Diontae - Tyreek - Lockett - Higgins - Chark - TMJ - Kirk - Dell
TE: Ertz - Engram - Mayer
'24 Picks: My 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

This really comes down to how the other owner views the deal. Both RB's you would be trading for are young which brings up their value but from a straight value and production standpoint, I actually think you are losing this deal. You are giving up a consistent top 10 RB, top 20 WR and a literal WR1 that happens to play TE for upside/hope and a WR that could lose targets to Lamb throughout the year. I see the thought process here, but again I think you lose this deal if you are contending even though it could help your build if Gibson and Swift make a jump.

Very interesting deal to break down here!

Yeah, it's a risk/reward deal for certain. Every time someone brings Kelce up in a trade it gets so convoluted haha. Maybe I'm just over-valuing him but I think I'll just end up holding. I couldn't get a mid-1st for him.

I don’t like the deal on the table. I would rather hold on to Kelce if that’s all the value you are going to get for him. Assuming you can flex one of them, I would just hold and play them both weekly. Kelce probably will end up being a guy who retires on my team.

As non-youth centric as this will sound, I’d rather trade Kittle in your situation. Kelce has a couple more years of production that usually finishes top-10 for WRs. Kittle has shown good production, but only when he’s on the field. His perceived value is high right now, so you could fetch a solid RB and a young TE with him and mitigate that risk.
