Rookie Draft Advice

Postby Outback6 » Thu May 06, 2021 8:14 am

I am in a SF, full PPR, 2.0 TE premium league and am rebuilding. I have picks 1.01, 1.02, 1.04, 1.07, 1.09 and 2.02. My key roster pieces are as follows:

QB: Stafford, Fitzpatrick
RB: Akers, Moss, Dallas, Michel
WR: Shenault, Aiyuk, Hamler, Gabriel Davis, Sutton
TE: Gesicki, Kmet, Fant, Logan Thomas

Looking for suggestions on how to play the draft. I think I need to take 2 QBs and at least 1 RB

Thanks

Nice place to be in a rebuild!

1.01 - Lawrence

1.02 - Fields

1.04 - Chase (hopefully)

1.07 - Smith

1.09 - Waddle

Locking up the top two QB's and the top tier WR's I think would be huge for you long term and really jump start your rebuild as early as next year.

Personal preference, but RB's are the last position I would look to add with picks until you have a chance to contend. Their values and workload are way to volatile for me in the early stages of a rebuild.

I'm going to be completely differe than everyone else. Load up in the top assets before qb with the exception of lawrence.

1.01 Lawrence
1.02 Pitts because it's TE Premium
1.04 Chase or Harris. Chase if both are there because wrs last longer in dynasty and I personally feel chase is the #1 non qb in this draft.
1.07 Here is where I would take another qb. Take your top qb here unless Harris or Etienne SOMEHOW falls here.
1.09 and 2 02 just take BPA. If that ends up being a third qb from this draft class then so be it. You can trade it for other assets.

For my team two in the signature (SF butnot TE premium) I had 1.02 and 1.04 and took Chase and then Harris. Would have taken Pitts at 1.04 but he went at 1.03 then ended up getting Mac Jones at 1.12.
Team 1:
PPR--QB, RBx2, WRx3, TE, Superflex, Flex x2
QBs: Lawrence, Stafford, Geno, Hooker, Rush
RBs: Ekeler, Kamara, Achane, Elijah Mitchell, Dillon, Kelley, Moss, Jamaal Williams
WRs: Adams, Hopkins, Waddle, Kirk, JSN, Boyd, OBJ, Hyatt
TEs: Kelce, Hockenson, Taysom, Irv Smith

and then a few minor players and rookie stashed on taxi

The top of the draft is 9 deep for me (4 QB, 3 RB, Pitts, Chase), your mileage may vary, but you're going to get 5.
My positional tiering is QB >= RB > WR so I would be looking at the picks through that lens. The TE premium and Pitts' unicorn status as a prospect bumps him into one of your top 2 picks.
1.01/1.02 - Lawrence & Pitts
1.04 - QB (or RB1 or Chase if you think a QB slides to 7 or 9, my preference is QB, Lance specifically)
1.07 - Chase (if Chase is gone then RB or QB - depending on what happens at 4, I probably wouldn't take a 3rd QB)
1.09 - Last man standing of the top 9 (in another post someone got Javonte at 1.09. I would expect it to be between him and Etienne most likely)
2.02 - Will likely be a WR

If you're in a full rebuild, I'd see if Fitzpatrick, Michel, and Logan Thomas are worth any picks/young players as well. But I agree with those who start with the Lawrence/Pitts combo, then Chase/Harris. After that, I'd go BPA (I'd kinda hope for Javonte Williams at 7, especially if you got Chase at 1.04, but that's just my mini-crush for the year). Good luck!
