Drafting 1.01, 1.02, 1.05, and 1.06 Rookie Draft

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Drafting 1.01, 1.02, 1.05, and 1.06 Rookie Draft

Postby atlmoneyman » Fri Apr 30, 2021 6:33 am

12 team SF TE Premium (1.5)

Dynasty gurus...need your thoughts. Team in signature below.

I can leave the draft with a QB trio of Pat Mahomes, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. That clearly seems to be the right call.

I am solid at RB with Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, Miles Sanders and Chris Carson. I am hoping I get 4 guys in the top 25 out of that crowd.

At WR I have Justin Jefferson and then a bunch of very interesting question marks with upside. If Aaron Rodgers finds his way to Denver I will feel a lot better about Jerry Jeudy.

TE is Irv Smith and not much else.

I expect that at least one QB will go at 1.03 and 1.04 and possibly both. The team at 1.03 really needs a QB and 1.04 needs QB/WR/TE so I'm not sure what he will do.

I am planning to take Lawrence at 1.01, Fields at 1.02 and at 1.05 and 1.06 will take two of Etienne, Pitts, Harris, Chase. As it relates to my roster, what order would you put the non QBs in the draft? I may be able to take the top two non QBs off the board.

What would you do?

With the 4 non qbs, I think it will be personal preference, but I would rank them
Chase
Pitts
coin flip on the two RBs.
9(yes 9) team / 28 man rosters
15/17/19/21 Champ
SF/PPR
QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/flex/SF
Mahomes/TLAW/Fields
N. Harris/J. Williams/Gibbs/CEH/A. Jones/Hubbard/Haskins/Ingram
Kupp/Jefferson/Chase/Lamb/Hopkins/MT/Watson/Dotson/
Kelce/Hurst

i'd take lawrence and chase, then QB/pitts/harris/entienne with 1.05/06.

How crazy do you want to get? You have such an insane amount of capital and young upside you could easily flip this into an instant contender and possibly favorite if you league is active. Or you sit right and look to 2022. I just see Barkley Taylor Carson sanders Mahomes Jefferson and think win.

Personally with only 12 teams I would take Chase at 2 and grab whoever falls of Lance, Fields, or Wilson at 1.05. If Pitts falls to 6 in this scenario that is a huge win overall.
Team 1:
12 team SF PPR/2PPR TE Prem, .2 ppc
Q-SF-R-W-F-F-F-F-T-T
QB: Wilson, Cousins, Fitz, Flacco, Lock
RB: Jacobs, CEH, DJ, Dillon, Michel, Royce, Lewis, Bruce Anderson, Gus, Warren
WR: MT, Amari, Kupp, Pittman, Miller, Agholor, John Brown, Enunwa, Foster, Wilson, Preston Williams, AB
TE: Kelce, Kittle, Tonyan, Davis, Dissly, Knox, T.Moss

Team 2:
Q-SF-R-R-W-W-F-F-T-T-D-K-IDP-IDP PPR
QB: Mahomes, TLaw, Darnold, Bridgewater
RB: Zeke, Swift, Singletary, Dillon, Mack, Penny, LMurray
WR: MT, DJ Moore, Sutton, Slayton, Tyler Boyd, Mims, Edwards, Van Jefferson, Miller
TE: Gesicki, Hooper, Knox
Def: Chi
K: Elliot
IDP: Bosa, LVE, Flowers

My concern there is not having a QB3 beyond Andy Dalton. I think he will start til Chicago's BYE week at the most. My worry is that if one of my top two QBs get hurt I will end up in a tough spot.

I am a top 2 or 3 team now assuming I make reasonable picks in the 1st.

you will still get one of fields/lance/wilson. you may also get a stafford-like QB with 1.06, if you don't like them all that much. or get someone old on the cheap (ben, fitzmagic) in case you get a rookie QB that won't start right away.

I would go TLaw and Pitts since it's TE premium at the 1.01 and 1.02.

Since you have the 1.05 and 1.06, you will be left with 2 of Fields, Wilson, Lance, Chase, Harris, Smith, or ETN. Having one of Fields, Wilson, or Lance as my QB3 plus another skill position starter is a nice way to leave the draft. Especially since you already have Mahomes.

With your roster and settings, I would be pleased with any combo of: Lawrence, Fields, Chase, Smith/Waddle and Pitts. Pitts only because of TE premium and he would honestly be my last choice of the group.

I view Chase more highly over the other non-QBs than I do Fields over Wilson and Lance, even with a 0.5 TE prem, so would be happy to land Lawrence-Chase at 1.01-1.02. I'd then grab whichever of those 3 QBs fall to 1.05. I see these 3 as having about the same hit/bust potential. At 1.06, I would target Pitts if he's there.

Slept on this for a couple nights. Some of y’all said it and after thinking and reading a bit I agree. Thanks for the solid advice.

Gonna go Lawrence at 1.01 and Chase at 1.02. I will take one of Fields/Wilson/Lance as my QB3 at 1.05 and take Pitts at 1.06 or try and trade down if he is gone.

So I ended up going 1.01 Lawrence, 1.02 Pitts, 1.05 Chase, 1.06 Fields. Two other teams took Lance at 1.03 and Harris at 1.04.

Honestly, I would have taken Lawrence, Pitts, Chase and Fields if I had the top 4 picks so this worked out well.
