Pass on lawrence at 1.1 in sf?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Pass on lawrence at 1.1 in sf?

Postby sloth8u » Wed Apr 28, 2021 7:56 pm

Already own herbert, burrow, tannehill, and wentz and own the 1.1....i have tried moving tanny and wentz with no takers. A few offers for burrow and herbert but offers were laughable in the format. Any way I can pass on lawrence? My initial thought is to take him and figure it out later, but with nothing materializing with the 4qbs I currently own, I'm wondering if I should just take my top positional player here. Also own 1.8 so realistically I could add chase and another wr at 8 to go with jefferson and sutton as my only other notable wrs. Only other notable players are dalvin and hock.

Interesting. On the surface, I say take Lawrence. If you are getting the next Peyton Manning, you can’t pass on that. However, it depends a little on format. In a 10-team, I might be more open to a non-QB position. 12 and over, it’s Lawrence. Great spot to see if you can slide down from 1.01 to 1.03/1.04 range and pick up some good assets.

Overall though, I’m taking Trevor.

In SF you can not pass on Lawrence. Just draft him and work some trades after. My only other thought is trade back to 3 or 4 and still get Chase and probably another pick.

You should take him unless you can get true value for him which is 1.08 in a start up. So maybe 3 1sts? If you could get that I'd probably trade him. I can see a case to be made for taking 2 different QBs and another player and figure one of the QBs works out to be a top 12 in dynasty eventually.

Even if you're not getting good offers for you current QBs, I'm shocked that no one is offering you a haul to move into 1.1. If I were in that league, I'd be pretty demoralize. Surely someone needs a great QB prospect in SF. Are they just deadbeats?

If there is no great trade options, I would still go Lawrence and I think his value/all your QB depth value goes up in season. Offseason values can be pretty funky or too pricey for most owners. Low ball offers seem to be a bit more common at this time of year.

Definitely take Lawrence. Unfortunate you’re getting bad offers for Burrow/Herbert but can’t pass on the value. A lot (most?) value Lawrence above both of those and you’ll be able to move one of the three for a lot sooner rather than later.

You are basically losing value with either the 1.01 or trading Wentz or Tannehill later. I'd rather take the loss of value on that latter two than on Trevor.

You have to take Lawrence if 12+ teams or trade out. If 10 teams or less go rb with your situation.

I’m in agreement with much of the above advice. First of all, if it’s a 10-team league, just take whoever you like most of Lawrence/Chase/Harris/Etienne. If it’s 12+ teams and nobody is offering you a haul for Lawrence, then you just have to draft him and wait it out. You’ll have five starting QBs in a SF league. If nobody is making a Godfather offer for one of them right now, they will once the season starts.

From the info you’ve given, it sounds like you’re not a strong contender, so I’d just stay patient and wait for the QB-needy teams to come calling.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

Thanks for the feedback. It is played as a 12 teamer. After looking through rosters a bit deeper, I could see pick 2 taking qb aswell then a run of positional players. Leaving me with qb or 6th best on my board at 8. The plus side of this (if I can't get a trade done) is I won't need to worry about qb for several yrs.

See if you can trade it and move back a few spots. That way you get a top positional prospect and pick up some extra draft capital or a player that can help you. That would be plan A for me if I were you.

If you can't find a deal that interests you, I don't think its a Cardinal Sin to pass on Lawrence at 1.01 in favor of someone like Harris or Chase (assuming they land in a great spot tonight) like some others do, but you need to accept the fact that you may regret not taking Lawrence for a long time if you pass on him.

I think Lawrence will have more trade value...but if you are in love with a guy and you want him, its only fantasy football...

Take lawrence or trade back. Lawrence will have significantly more value in a 12tm SF than any other player. If you have 5 of the 32 starting QBs, you are in pretty good shape to find a trade partner needing a QB later.
