Trade for Conner?

Postby Avery » Tue Apr 20, 2021 6:39 am

Team 2 below.

Just got offered:
I get: Conner
I give: 2.05

Having Edmonds, I get why he's offering me Conner but I'm not enthralled with him. Conner seems to be an old 25 and I already have a number of good RBs and only need to start 1 (although I can start up to 3).

Having said that, maybe Conner takes over the job and and maybe he hits. Stranger things have happened.

So for value, I think he would not be worth the 2.10 or a future 2nd. Question is, for my team would you offer either of those?

Love to see your vote and hear your opinions!

I would move the 2.10 for Conner if contending, but not the 2.05.

That's kinda where I am about it.

I know in my head that Conner has a likely better shot at "hitting" than anyone I draft at 2.10 and I think the value is about right... but I'm also not excited about the move so noodling on whether to counter-offer it or not.

This is part of the key to me. Without a doubt, Conner has a much better chance at being a useful fantasy player in 2021 than any player (especially RB) you will draft at 2.10. But the flip side is, 25 year old 5th year RBs in the NFL who change teams rarely stick in their new location and remain a useful fantasy player.

2020: Guice and Crowell
2019: L Bell to NYJ, Ingram to BAL, Peterson to WAS, Coleman to SF
2018: DLewis to TEN, Hyde to CLE, CJAnderson to CAR, Crowell to NYJ

I could go on and on, but the picture isn't one of long-term high-end production. Except for Peterson's surprise dozen games and Ingram's one good year in BAL, we're talking about bye week flex guys here ... at best. And none of the guys really had 2+ years of good fantasy production with their new teams.

Unless I was bonkers desperate for RB production and/or I knew I had a championship quality team that needed 1 more depth RB, I'd rather have the 2.10 and take my lottery chance at hitting a long term starter.

With only starting 1 RB and 2 flex, I would rather have the dart throw. Yes, 2.05 and 2.10 both have slightly diminished value given format and starting req's, but I'd rather take the flier and see if they become something.

I would keep your pick. Conner has a lot of work to overcome Edmonds in their offense let alone being a viable fantasy performer.

Thanks fort the advice all!

Decided to (currently) keep the pick for two reasons:
- I'm at a tight roster spot and pre-NFL draft, pre camp etc., I currently see only two real openings on my roster. So I'm rather keep the liquid asset of the 2.10 to maybe use to move up in the draft somewhere or package for something.
- Depending on what happens in the real NFL draft and our fantasy draft, up to my 2.10 pick, I may end up offering it out for Conner. I don't think that deal is going anywhere else.
