Moving from 1.02 to 1.01

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Moving from 1.02 to 1.01

Postby footballwookie » Tue Apr 20, 2021 12:02 am

looking to get the 1.01 im at 1.02. id like to draft whatever RB the steelers take (presumably harris or etienne). The 1.01 owner wants; Julio Jones , 1.02 , 2.06 for the 1.01. This is too much yes?

Team A gets: Julio Jones, 1.02,2.06
Team B gets: 1.01

Seems to me this would be an overpay for the 1.01.

On 1 qb I wouldn’t want to pay it but it’s a reasonable ask. Not sure why the steelers rb is your target but I’d wait until after nfl draft to make the move if you’re looking for specific landing spot, they may draft neither.

I would hope that at least 2 if the big 3 RBS this year get drafted to nice spots. Since the guy wants Julio, maybe that's an indication he wants a WR and will be drafting Chase?? IDK.
But to answer your question that seems like far too much to pay IMO.

I would hold off, at least until after the NFL draft, before making this deal. I view Chase as the 1.01, and don’t really see much downside of sitting at 1.02 if you’re planning to draft an RB. Either the the guy at 1.01 goes Chase, or he goes RB, either way you’re still likely getting a starting RB at 1.02.

In a 1 QB league even with Jones drop in value, this is pretty pricey. Pass for me.

1. We have no idea if the Steelers will draft Harris or Etienne or pick a RB later in the draft. Seems to be a deep reach to lock in a a teams draft pick at a particular position before the NFL Draft
2. I don't see the huge value jump from 1.02 to 1.01 here but I have Chase as my 1.01 so I'd be thrilled to grab him at 1.02.
Team 1: Dynasty/Contract Team: 12 Team, PPR, QB,1 RB, 2WR, 2 Flex WR/RB, TE (Premium TE scoring: 1.25X receiving yards points)

TE – D. Waller, C. Okonkwo, L. Thomas, J. Ferguson

Team 2: Dynasty Team: 12 Team, 0.5 PPR, QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex WR/RB/TE (Premium TE scoring: 1.5X receiving yards points)

I'm not paying anything to move up from 2 to 1. I'm fine with chase, or whichever RB you like best at #2.

This. 1QB doesn't have a premium on 1.01 this year

Steelers fan, and while I won't profess to know who Colbert will draft or when; I think the same can be said of all these "professional's" putting out their mock drafts. They are rarely predictable and I can't remember many if any times the Steelers take the guy they are largely being mocked to take. Colbert does have a history of being a very savvy drafter though, and I find it hard to believe he'd see value in taking a RB in the 1st round with all their other team needs and it's not the best use of a 5th year option. They took McFarland last year and Snell the year before and retained both players for 2021, so while RB is a need I don't think they are spending a 1st on one. I can see Williams in the 2nd if he is there, or more likely a guy like Gainwell in the 3rd. Neither of who I think would be worth you trading up to 1.01 to get. I also don't love them as a landing spot as much as others. Connor was a persistently injured JAG, but their o-lines run blocking was the bigger hindrance to the rushing game than talent. I think they will look to improve the line to have a better run game then investing heavily at RB, and see a better long term value in taking a center or tackle who will likely have a career twice as long as a RB.

TL/DR IMO, don't trade up. If you still want to, wait till after the draft. If you do after the draft, think hard about taking a back just because he lands on the Steelers.

What are the chances the Steelers take a rb? What are the chances said RB takes over the 1.01 spot? Both happening together seem pretty low to me. No need to gamble and overpay imo. IF the steelers do take Harris or ET early, then you can overpay if you want.

stay where you are, there just isn't a premium on 1.01 in my mind unless a SF
I am just a guy sharing some thoughts

It's not expensive for most years but for this one there isn't a good reason to do it, especially if your consolation prize is Chase anyway.
TEAM 1 - 12 man SF. ppr, TEP 1.65 ppr

11 starters - QB, RB(2) WR(3) TE, SF, Flex(3)

Stroud, Kyler, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Minshew, Trey Lance, Dalton l, Mike White

Breece, Achane, AJ Dillon, Justice Hill, Evan Hull, Chris Rodgriquez

Chase, Lamb, Waddle, Olave, London Drake, Demario Davis, Jake Bobo

Kyle Pitts, Mark Andrews, Kincaid, Schoonmaker

24 picks - 1x2, 3,4,5

Team 2-
12 man SF, .25ppc, .5ppr rbs, 1 ppr wr, 1.5 ppr TE

Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawerence, Jake Haehner, Jake Browning

JT, Kendre Miller,, K Ingram, Ty Chandler, Michael Carter, Kenny Macintosh, Sean Tucker

Puka, Rondale, Mooney, Wan’dale, Terrace Marshall, DPJ, Justyn Ross, Xavier Hutchinson,

Kyle Pitts, Luke Musgrave, Juwan Johnson, Darnell Washington, Jelani Woods, Elijah Higgins

24 - 1st x 3, 2nd x 2, 4th x 3 ,5

Way too expensive to move up 1 spot in this year’s draft.
