Trading for Melvin Gordon

Postby Big_J_All_Day_77 » Mon Apr 19, 2021 2:59 pm

I am trying to make a big run this year. I moved CEH, Slayton, & Cousins for Keenan Allen & Russ Wilson and think I need one more piece to contend.

I was offered

Melvin Gordon & Antonio Brown

for

My 2022 1st (if my team stays healthy this should be a late first)

Thoughts on this?
Team 1: 12 team, 1 pt PPR

QB: Russ Wilson, TLaw, Darnold
RB: Barkley, JT, Ant Gibson, Mike Davis, Larry Rountree, Darrel Williams
WR: Tyreek, Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, Devonta Smith, Jeudy, Toney
TE: Goedert, GRONK, Tre McKitty
Taxi Squad: Noah Grey, Kylen Granson, Jacob Harris

2023: 3rd

Team 2: 12 Team, 1pt PPR. Auction with a 5 year contract cap, $450 salary Cap

QB: Josh Allen 3 years $2 - Justin Fields 4 years $4 - Sam Darnold 3 years $3
RB: J. Taylor 3 years $35 - Chubb 1 year $77 - Mixon 1 year $83 - Sermon 4 years $4 - Dillon 3 years $4
WR: Chase 5 Years $35 - Kupp 1 Year $31 - Mike Williams 2 Years $26
TE: Kelce 1 Year $80 - Jared Cook Year $8

I'd keep the 1st. Don't want to give a first round pick for 2 players whos value could realistically tank to almost nothing this year

I would easily hold the 1st here. Both assets you are trading for could have very little value as early as next offseason and may or may not help you much this year. Way to much risk for the price in my opinion.

Now is not the time to trade your first. And I wouldn't do it anytime for this trade. Your second should be sufficient.

I see Gordon going in the 5th of FFPC startups which generally equates to a future 1st. If you need the back it’s fair

I like the idea of using your 2022 1st to shore up your RB depth, but I don’t think Gordon is the way to go. I’d use that pick to target a younger back with more long-term upside, like, for example, Salvon Ahmed or Ito Smith.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

🦬PRIME🦬
QB: Hurts, Howell
RB: Mixon, Jones, Sanders, Dobbins, Akers, Roschon, Dowdle, Kelley
WR: Nuk, Godwin, Cooper, Lockett, Flowers, Chark, Collins, Hollins, Tillman, Tolbert

Taxi: Willis, Z. White, M. Mims, T. Palmer

Hull Awaits
$450 cap, 60 contract years

QB: Lawrence $5/3, Richardson $5/5, Minshew $1/0, Jones $1/0, Heinicke $1/0, Tyrod $1/0
RB: Achane $4/4, Warren $2/4, Roschon $7/5, Dillon $4/1, Hubbard $2/1, Kelley $1/0
WR: Nuk $78/1, MT $25/1, M. Williams $1/0, JSN $21/5, Reed $4/5, Rice $4/5, M. Wilson $2/5
TE: Thomas $1/0, Hill $1/0, Parham $1/0

This has to me a joke post right? For a first?

For the question I don't mind it at all. AB is also a sneaky buy for a contender--the underlying numbers were quite good last year and he could easily get a destination where he's not behind Evans/Godwin

It's beginning to look like Denver might (might) depend on Gordon more in 2021 than they did in 2020. I think a late 1st is about his value for now.

Antonio Brown carries no value for me - I predict he's going to have a horribly unpredictable low performance season, with a couple of 100yd1TD games and a few games missed due to injuries in the mix. That's usually more trouble than it's worth. In fact, unless your WRs are horrible, I'd probably tell the other owner to keep him. I just looked at your WRs. Unless your league starts 4WR, I don't think AB will ever leave your bench.

A future late 1st is likely what it would take to get Gordon, but I’m not sure I’d be willing to pay it.

This really comes down to what Denver does in the draft. MGIII finished as a high end RB2 last year with Lindsay on the roster, and with him out of the way this year, Gordon really has no competition for touches in that backfield. If the Broncos don't add a back in the first few rounds I'd be on board with sending out a late future 1st for a back that will produce for you right now. AB is more of a wild card (that's putting it lightly) but when he's on the field he can help a contending team.

As much as I'm not a fan of the typical lazy analysis of "just wait til the draft" I think this is a situation where I'd want to go that route, especially considering how close we are to the draft at this point.
