Accept offer for Watson?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Accept the below offer to get Watson?

Accept offer for Watson?

Postby Avery » Fri Apr 16, 2021 2:51 pm

Team 1 below entered the second year of a rebuild.

QBs are generally not valued a lot in this league and in it's history I've been pretty successful grabbing guys off the wire but for due diligence I hit up the Watson owner to see what he would want for him.

While I am rebuilding, he is in a "win now" window and Watson is his only QB. This is what he sent over:

I get: Watson, 2021 2.10
I give: Hurts, 2021 2.01, 2022 1st

I was thinking of countering getting rid of the 2nd round picks but I'm not sure that would get it done.

I haven't been following the legal situation too closely and even if I was, I don't think anyone knows what will happen. So (obviously) if I could do it for giving away less, that's always better but given the offer as it is, would you do it for Watson?

Thanks for any opinions you can offer!

Edit to add: Oops. Team 1. Not team 2. My bad.

Oops. Just edited. It was for team 1 (where I have Jones and Hurts). Not team 2.
Any different thoughts?

That is a horrible package for a 25 year old 3x pro bowl QB. He is definitely dealing with some serious issues but he isn’t dead.

So he made the offer.

So are you saying to take the package because it is "horrible" for him? :?

I would hold in a 1 QB league. You have Jackson, so you are in good shape long term and Rodgers has multiple years left. Watson is not worth the risk currently. I'm all for buying cheap, but I'm not sure this is cheap where we currently stand.

My bad on the first posting. Wrong team.

I assumed it was team 1. My analysis doenslt change. I don't think I would pay that for watson in a 1qb league if he didnt have problems. Contracts could play into it but stick with hurts right now.

I’m saying hold Watson. Philly is setting up to draft a QB in the 1st next year if Hurts doesn’t look good. They will likely have 3 1st round picks and can move up easily. So if Hurts doesn’t look good in 2021 he doesn’t have much job security beyond that. And the 2022 picks isn’t that great unless you can say it will be an early one.

I would hold Watson. You wouldn’t even be considering this offer if he wasn’t dealing with the off field stuff. I wouldn’t lock in the sell low price.

I definitely missed it. Yeah I would accept that offer quickly. Then work to get Tyrod Taylor and Teddy Bridgewater. They are more likely to be starting 2021 week 1 in Houston than Watson.

QBs in 1QB arent nearly as valuable as other formats. The disparity between Qb1 and Qb12 isn't enough to pay up for. Even Watson, a top end QB at 25yo isn't going to make me pay significant capital to acquire. Mahommes *might* be the exception.

Keep your first and find a Kirk Cousins for a 2nd until you can land QB in the draft.

Awwwww damn. It’s 1QB? I missed that, too. Yeah...I was thinking 2QB value...
